1956 Porsche 550 Spyder Thunder Ranch Body & Frame Project Car on 2040-cars
Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, United States
Selling my Thunder Ranch 550/A wide body Spyder project car for health reasons. I bought it from Thunder Ranch about 6 years ago for $10,000. for body and frame.
Please see all the parts I have in the photos. I think I have about $12,300 in it as you see it in the photos. I have done extensive mods, suspension and body wise, but if you want to return it to original T/H design I have all the parts that I removed. I also have the doors, hood & hardware but I have them hanging in the garage. I Have: 2 Wilwood rotors & hats custom drilled for Porsche 1 Wilwood caliper Steering rack & shafts 3 Wilwood master cylinders 2 Fibersteel fiberglass seats custom shifter Parking lights & tail lights License plate light Front spindles (944) Front & Rear hubs (944) Custom pedals from Australia (GT 40 ford) Turn signal switch (VW) I was going to make the suspension totally custom, front A-arms w/inboard shocks. Rear is a copy of a Porsche 917. This car is supposed to be a 6cyl. Porsche, but you could probably make it a 4cyl if you wanted to. I sold the engine, trans, and wheels from a 1985 Carrera a few weeks ago on ebay. Just ask if you have any questions. |

Little Red Racing Car Kickstarter project a father/son affair [w/video]
Thu, 14 Feb 2013Tales of fathers and sons, whether told for adults or for children, never go out of style. It's appropriate then that The Little Red Racing Car, a story about a father and son finding and restoring a 1955 Maserati 300S, is such a stylish piece of work.
Author Dwight Knowlton first started working on The Little Red Racing Car when, after his son was born, he "went looking for the perfect Father/Son/Car book" and couldn't find one. Knowlton's artwork in has been influenced heavily by vintage automotive advertising and Grand Prix posters, and has a very clean, art deco vibe as a result.
Of course, TLRRC is still just a work in progress. Knowlton is hoping the Kickstarter community will help to get the ball rolling, and raise $25,000 to the book printed and distributed. The author even has a stretch goal to have the whole shebang made into and animated film - we love big dreams. Follow on below to hear Knowlton's pitch in his own words, or jump over to his Kickstarter page to look further or buy-in.
Maserati introduces Ghibli to Americans in Super Bowl spot
Mon, 03 Feb 2014Fiat Chrysler Automobiles aired three commercials during this year's Super Bowl, and the first spot was given to Maserarti during the first quarter of the big game. The 90-second ad was used by Maserati to introduce its new midsize Ghibli luxury sports sedan to a very captive American audience.
Called Strike, the Ghibli commercial tells the familiar tale of the little guy who waits around for the world's giants to let down their guard. Scroll down to watch the spot yourself and let us know if it lives up to the high bar that Chrysler brands have set for themselves in past Super Bowls.
Alfieri headed for production based on strong Maserati sales
Fri, 18 Apr 2014Maserati has been on a heck of a product surge recently. After years of subsiding on versions of the previous Quattroporte and the aging GranTurismo, the Modense automaker rolled out the new Quattroporte the year before last, the Ghibli last year, it will introduce the Levante crossover next year and - according to the latest intel - will begin production of the Alfieri sports car the year after that.
The Alfieri concept debuted just last month at the Geneva Motor Show, taking the form of a two-door sports car foreshadowing the brand's new design language. Reception was positive, but it appears that sales of Maserati's existing models is what's giving the Alfieri the green light.
According to Automotive News, citing an interview given by Maserati chief Harald Wester on Bloomberg Television, the brand has been getting 3,500 orders per month, putting it on track to sell 42,000 units this year - nearly three times as much as the 15,400 it sold in 2013. The profits generated off those orders could be enough by themselves to offset the losses which Fiat is expected to record this year based on flagging sales for the Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Jeep brands in Europe.
