Selling reasons

  • Leaving for military
  • Blown bottom end

To start with a little back ground, I've had this vehicle for around two years now.  The vehicle is beautiful inside and out and low miles for the year.  There is no rips or tears in the leather and all the paint matches on the outside and still holds a wax very well for a 15 year old car. bottom of front bumper has pant scuffs and digs, I never repainted that when I got her because when lowered it scuffs anything and everything anyways so there was no point to repaint bottom.  Although she looked beautiful there was a number of mechanical issues like a bad fan, rubber hoses on oil returns and oil leaks of the worst kind (the ones you could never easily find and seemed never ended)

I replaced the hoses, as well as the oil leaks all of them.  Then the MAP Sensor went witch screwed everything up.  The MAP sensor was replaced and the car wouldn't retune and wouldn't start.  So it ended up sitting at the garage for about 8 months wile I just got frustrated with it and didn't touch it but to clean it every now and again.  Finally we figured out that the computer might be bad. We sent it out along with the chip and a new computer to find out the chip was bad not the computer.  However, I had the new ECM Link/Tuning Chip Installed in the new computer. She ran but I didn't trust Her, and I didn't want to do the tuning myself, so I towed her 2.5 hours away to PSI PROFORMANCE.  They put a new fan in, new wiring, and another new MAP Sensor that they would be able to tune.

Then It was Time for the DYNO.  Wile there, I had PSI PROFORMANCE Tune and Dyno the car.  As in the pictures below, at the time of this first tune She was running 253 ft-lbs of Torque and 275 HP.  About 100 over stock on just those few motor upgrades.

I ended up bringing it back a few days later, the day I left it started idling funny and it sounded like there was an exhaust leak.  By the time I got back there the exhaust leak was horrible.  It also sounded like there was a boost leak, witch was thought to be there the first time but wasn't found.  The exhaust leak from turbo to manifold, basically the worst spot ever for power.  And the boost leak was found from turbo to intercooler, THE absolute worst spot for boost and power.  After their tuner/dyno guy had those fixed he re-tuned it, he didn't do the dyno again (for that's $500 for tune and dyno there) but he estimated the car was now pushing about 300HP and 260 ft-lbs of torque.  He had me take it for a ride before I left again and literally with those two things fixed, it sounded like a whole new and stronger car compared to what it did just two weeks prior, amazing how much little air not circulating correctly can hold something back.

After this tune the car ran great for about 3 weeks I did not drive it daily for during the summer my Mustang is my daily car and the Eclipse was just for show and fun in the sun.  And the compliments were always appreciated, got them every time I drove it. After about 3 weeks the motor finally blew, To Much Power For its Own Good.  The vehicle does not Have upgraded cams, (witch he said I needed to push more horsepower because without the hp hits a brick wall at 300) no upgraded intake manifold or headers also for more hp but this is because I wanted to upgrade the bottom end first. However I didn't get there in time and the rods blew rate through the bottom of the motor (shown in last picture)

I cleaned up all the oil from under the car, cleaned the motor and checked the parts and everything seems to be ok. Turbo, Intercooler, etc. (the expensive important stuff) Its been sitting for 2 or 3 weeks now because I've been procrastinating on selling her and reluctant to do so.  However I leave for the military in a month and she has to go.  It is worth more if I parted it out I know that, anyone who knows cars knows that, and I've had many offers on the turbo, intercooler, rims, exhaust, etc.  However, as I just mentioned I'm leaving soon and don't have the time to part it out so, although worth less to sell, I'm selling her as a whole no exceptions.

I am selling this vehicle locally and reserve the right to end this auction early. Shipping is responsible by buyer.

Thanks For Looking.

Former BMW M boss and Maserati CEO killed in freak motorcycle accident

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

It's a tragic coincidence that on the same weekend the BMW M4 Coupe Concept was introduced in Monterey, one of the men most integral to BMW's M and Motorsports divisions, Karl-Heinz Kalbfell, was killed in England. Kalbfell, a vintage motorcycle enthusiast, was set to compete in the Lansdowne Classic Series at Brands Hatch and had an accident during a practice session. After going wide at Druids Corner and falling, he was hit by a competitor following close behind and died of his injuries after being transported to hospital.
Kalbfell, an engineer, began his career at BMW in 1977 in the communications department; a decade later he was chairman of BMW M GmbH, overseeing development of some of the cars responsible for the myth of M. In 1994 he was named chairman of BMW Motorsport, and his cap full of feathers includes getting the BMW V12 into the McLaren F1, getting the BMW V8 into two Morgan cars, along with developing BMW's Formula One engine and return to the sport. Not incidentally, he also assumed leadership of Project Rolls-Royce after BMW bought the British marque in 1998, which means he oversaw the Goodwood factory upfit and the creation of the Phantom.
He left Rolls-Royce for a brief stint at Fiat, heading Alfa Romeo and Maserati, then went into consulting for clients like Lotus and Paragon, who built the Artega GT. As Autocar notes, Kalbfell "had an abiding sense that customers needed to be attracted to cars by their aura and reputation, not just their engineering." He will be missed.

2014 Quattroporte kicks off 50th anniversary for Maserati with new V6, AWD

Tue, 15 Jan 2013

It's not that often that we get to talk about a new Maserati model, but that's all about to change. The Italian automaker is using the 2014 Quattroporte to begin a lineup expansion that will soon grow to no fewer than five models. Entering its sixth generation, the Quattroporte has been completely redesigned, and is also adding a new V6 engine and all-wheel drive.
Pictures of the car were released last year and we've even had the chance to drive the car in France already, but we finally got to see both the 410-horsepower V6 and 530-hp V8 versions of the car at its debut at the Detroit Auto Show. The new Quattroporte is 100-percent Maserati with its svelte-ye-aggressive styling, but it adds more of a mainstream look to better compete with the growing number of high-end luxury sedans. Not all of the Autoblog staff consider it an improvement, but it doesn't stray too far from the Italian styling of the last model.
The interior has also been brought up to date with modern infotainment technology and improved luxury courtesy of a longer wheelbase bringing more space to rear-seat occupants. While the V8 we drove had a bench rear seat and oddly retro-modern wheels, the car on display had more conventional wheels and the two-passenger rear seat bucket seat layout.

Maserati confirms Levante SUV for 2015, Alfieri for 2016

Tue, 06 May 2014

The Maserati share of the big Fiat Chrysler event today was expected to be something of a snooze, at least relative to the very busy Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Alfa Romeo portions. But the truth is there was plenty to pay attention to where the premium Italian brand was concerned. After all, moving from its 15,400 unit sales in 2013 to a target of 75,000 global sales in 2018 is going to take some doing.
One piece of big news is a shakeup in the existing ranks. 2014 will mark the final year of production for the GranTurismo (and its soft-top counterpart), meaning Maserati will be limited to just its Quattroporte and Ghibli sedans until the Levante SUV arrives in 2015, confirming previous reports. The first SUV to wear the trident, the Levante will only be available with all-wheel drive, but it will boast a Porsche Macan-smiting pair of V6s, with 350 and 425 horsepower, respectively.
Things get back to normal in 2016, as Maserati resumes sports car production with a road-going version of the Alfieri Concept from the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Again, this is confirmation of a previous report. That car will be joined by a convertible variant in 2017. It seems like Maser is taking aim at, well, everything with the Alfieri, offering a 410-hp, V6-powered variant that dispatches its power to the rear wheels, to go along with 450- and 520-hp versions of the Alfieri's V6 that will only get their power to the road through an all-wheel-drive system.
