1989 Mercedes 190d Daily Driver, Very Clean And Runs Great on 2040-cars
Beverly, Massachusetts, United States
MB 1989 190D is an exceptionally clean daily driver. Newly rebuilt transmission. No need to plug in during a cold northeast winter! Many recent parts replaced to include tie rods & drag links, muffler, flex disks front struts, steering dampener, wheel bearings, brake pads, rotors, tires( conti's), antenna mast, windshiled, ABS module, AC compressor etc. Car gets 37mpg combined. Oil changed religiously every 3k. All work done by the best mercedes shop in the area. Sun roof lubed 3x per year and works without flaw. AC blows cold. Door locks all operate. Engine purrs. A few flaws( left rear window switch inop, defrost blows hot air) Beautifully running car that i hate to sell, but I have orders to get rid of a car. Why the asking price of $6500? The engine has at least another 250,000 miles on it, and it wasn't cheap to get the car updated. That said, diesel motors that can burn virtually "anything" are a dying breed, while all the new cars have a thin margin for diesel fuel blend with alcohol and have finicky exhaust emeissions controls. This car has no emmissions controls. It has no GPS system keeping track of you or other such invasive devices. I guess you could convert it to run on salad dressing if you desire. Perhaps I should keep this car;> I will be happy to answer any of your quesitons, and to send a few more photos along that didn't get included on ebay. (Mark Boston Area).

2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 Sport
Wed, 06 Mar 2013Mercedes Makes A Mighty Little Sedan
We got overexcited when the W203 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan came out in 2001, calling it the "Baby Benz" when it really wasn't. We knew that, too, but our enthusiasm for a model more like the old 190 of the '80s was so strong that we were willing to stretch the first-gen C-Class to fit that mold. Today, the C-Class has done what all German premium cars do: grown in size. In this case, grown to satisfy the market intentions of the previous E-Class.
There was the tall A-Class sold from 1998 through 2010, but we never considered that a serious small Benz in the proper spirit, nor was it ever offered in the US. Regardless, we've been craving a smaller, premium, sexy sedan all the while.
How could a lifted Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG be more awesome? Add an axle
Fri, 01 Mar 2013We are fully confident in saying that this will be the most amazing thing you see all day. First of all, it's a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen - in AMG spec, no less. And it's being shown off in high-definition video glory, blasting through the desert, jumping over sand dunes, and generally being awesome. But here's the kicker: It has six wheels. Three axles. And they're all driven. Holy $%!#.
Under the hood is AMG's usual 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8, and total output is rated at 536 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. That's impressive and all, but do keep in mind that the G63 6x6 weighs in at 8,322 pounds or, you know, the weight of two E-Class sedans. Combine that with its 18 inches of ground clearance, 37-inch tires and five locking differentials and you've got a vehicle capable of, well, everything you've ever imagined or will ever imagine for the rest of your life.
But the goodness doesn't stop once you open the doors. Oh, no. This thing is fit for a king - or a sheik, more appropriately - with ultimately luxurious seating for four. The rear bench seat has been removed in favor of two bucket seats with a fixed console in the middle, and the rear seats have been moved back beyond the usual B pillar to allow for more legroom.
Carlsson SLK 340 Judd is winged up for hill climb glory
Wed, 06 Mar 2013Carlsson has been expertly tuning Mercedes-Benz products for more than 20 years now, but we can't say as we remember the outfit turning out anything quite so racy as this SLK 340 Judd that it has brought along to the Geneva Motor Show this year.
This SLK is meant for competition, obviously, and Carlsson has already booked the car to race in several hill climb events in the E1 category. The purpose-built racer should have a fighting chance to do well in said races, with a shape vetted in wind tunnel testing for maximum downforce, the SLK uses a carbon-fiber bodyshell to help achieve a curb weight of just about 1,720 pounds.
The featherweight SLK's name comes from its 3.4-liter V8 engine, which churns out a wicked 610 horsepower to go with its 317 pound-feet of torque. A Hewland transmission with paddle shift operation manages all of the thrust.
