A very nice running and driving Fincar. The black paint is very nice showing a body with no ripples. The car is stunning in person with this color combination of black over red, draws looks and comment wherever I go. The engine was rebuilt about 4500 miles ago (reciepts included). A new pair of Weber carburetors was installed during the rebuild which is a very nice upgrade.
The interior is very nice with no rips or wear showing on the seats. The seat pads and springs are still nice and firm. The rubber mat in the drivers area is craked and worn (this car never had carpeting except on the trans hump). The headliner is very nice but has some very minor staining near the edges as shown in the photos. There is a small crack in the dash(less the 1") next to the instruments.
The speedometer cable squeels when it is cold. Some of the instrument lights and the temperature gauge are not working. I am including a replacement speedometer and instrument assembly to remedy this. The ignition switch was replaced with a non-standard unit which works fine. The original lock mechanism is included but it needs a new lock tumbler. There is a very small leak from the transmission pan.
This is a great car that I use a daily driver when the weather is nice. It is reliable and can probably be driven anywhere but please remember it is 46 years old.

Mercedes fits new C-Class with AMG kit
Sat, 28 Dec 2013It's only been a week and a half since Mercedes-Benz revealed the new C-Class, and it'll likely be a while yet before the replacement for the C63 AMG comes along. But if you want to see a preview of what it'll look like, look no further than the AMG aero kit that has just surfaced.
Expected to debut on the new C-Class at the fast-approaching Detroit Auto Show, the AMG Line Exterior Pack adds a new bumpers front and rear, side skirts, dual exhaust tips, mesh grille, aluminum window frames and - most importantly - 18-inch alloys packing upgraded brakes and fitted to a lowered sport suspension. All of which will help any C-Class look the part, even if the engine remains stock.
Mercedes S-Class Magic Body Control ad is clucking awesome
Tue, 24 Sep 2013This is a new ad from Mercedes-Benz. At no point does it show an automobile. Instead, it stars animals, but not the sort you might normally see in car commercial. This ad is all about chickens. It is bizarre, to say the least, with Diana Ross and the Supremes belting it out in the background, but it all kind of comes together when you realize just what Mercedes is hawking (yeah, pun intended).
It's for the manufacturer's Magic Body Control, found on the new S-Class. The system basically analyzes the road and prepares the suspension accordingly, leading to a ride that is, in the words of our own Chris Paukert "nothing short of spooky." You can read about it in our full review of the 2014 S550. Take a look below for the 53-second spot.
Mercedes mulling Renault-based entry-level X-Class?
Sun, 17 Mar 2013Somewhere in between the Smart brand and the all-new A-Class (pictured above), Daimler is said to be readying a smaller entry-level product for the Mercedes-Benz brand to compete with models like the Audi A1. According to AutoBild, Mercedes-Benz will get a new hatchback based on a platform from its recent partnership with Renault-Nissan, and it could be called the X-Class.
Expected to debut by 2018, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class could be offered in sedan, hatchback and crossover variants, and it would likely have a starting price below the $20,000-euro mark. Power would come from either a 1.0-liter inline three-cylinder engine or a 1.5-liter inline-four, and the car would likely be built in a low-cost nation in order to make the financials work. Wearing the Mercedes-Benz name, the X-Class would have to exhibit more distinguishable luxury and styling to set itself apart from the models that helped provide its underpinnings.
