This is a no reserve auction. Vehicle will be sold to the high bidder. From what I can determine from owners manuals & repair receipts this vehicle spent most of it's life in California. Then about 6 years in Florida. Last 2 years garaged in Virginia. In my opinion, the vehicle is an excellent candidate for restoration, certainly better than a parts car. I have no particular knowledge of Mercedes especially one of this age. If you need additional information email me through Ebay with your phone number so I can call with the information. The mileage showing on the odometer & title is 59,602. I am sure that is 159,602 as the odometer only shows 5 digits. I have been all over the body with a magnet & find no evidence of bondo or repairs. The body & chrome are 99% rust free. The only rust found was in the engine compartment particularly on the air cleaner metal cover. All the lights work & the lenses are in tack. Receipt for a complete exhaust system in 2011. When I looked under the vehicle all of the exhaust appeared new. Vehicle starts easily but smokes. I believe one of the possible causes may that the oil level shown on the dip stick is considerably more than the marks indicate is required. I have not driven it any distance only enough to determine the transmission seems to work properly  & the brakes work. The driver side door when closed will not latch, it did latch but inexplicably quit working. the radio works a Becker Europa. There is a Becker Olympia Stereo Cassette player in the glove compartment. I do not know if it works as I do not have a cassette tape. Windshield wipers work at both speeds. The driver power window & front passenger window do not work. The motor can be heard running but there is no movement of the glass. The paint is faded & has spider webs. (see pics). Tires are 90%. All of the wood trim is in good condition except about 8 inches of piece between the dash & the wind shield. Vehicle is being sold as is & will require pick up in Waynesboro, Va. $500 immediate Paypal required at the end of the auction. Balance due in cash or wire in 3days.

Rare Isdera Imperator 108i flexes its considerable muscles

Mon, 05 Aug 2013

The Isdera Imperator 108i is a remarkably rare supercar from the late 80s and early 90s. Born of a Mercedes-Benz concept car, it's powered by a range of AMG-developed V8s, with five to six liters of displacement, depending on the engine. The example shown here, lapping the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit, features the most potent 6.0-liter V8 available. And rather than just being driven about on a perfectly clean racing line, it's freaking power sliding!
Yes, there's something eternally childlike about a wedge-shaped supercar from our formative years being flung about a Belgian racetrack. Adding to the appeal is the Imperator's stumpy, periscopic rear mirror, sticking out of the roof. Even after being out of production for 20 years, this is still a wild, wild car and we'd happily snap up the opportunity pilot one of the 36 Isderas that were built. Take a look below for the full video from Spa.

Mercedes FWD platform to last until 2018, convertible and two-seater future uncertain

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

Mercedes-Benz seems to be expecting a lot of success from its front-wheel-drive CLA-Class. Automotive News is reporting that the sub-C-Class sedan could grow when its second generation arrives in 2018.
The current FWD platform for MB underpins the CLA, the B-Class, the GLA-Class, and the A-Class. The B-Class will arrive in North America as an EV for spring of 2014, while the production GLA crossover will arrive three to four months after that. The five-door A-Class won't be crossing The Pond. Sad faces all around.
According to AN, another model will be based on the front-drive architecture, but it won't be coming to the US market. Set to arrive next year, rumors are that it'll be a wagon version of the CLA, sort of like the ill-named five-door CLS Shooting Brake that is also a Europe-only item.

2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series [w/video]

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Now Even Sharper Than The Razor's Edge
There have been five Black Series models since the Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG Black Series introduced itself to European audiences in 2006. Following that, the Black Series club has hosted appearances by the 2008 CLK63 AMG Black Series, the 2009 SL65 AMG Black Series and last year's 2013 C63 AMG Black Series. The sixth member of the group is one we would have thought already was a Black Series car in its standard guise. Right out of the box, the SLS AMG is loud, frenetic, cozy, boisterous and frightfully easy to oversteer. How much more Black did it need to get?
Quite a bit so, apparently. The SLS AMG Black Series has lost weight, gained power and been refitted with upgrades and aero bits from front to rear. If you liked the way it looked before, you'll probably be an even bigger fan of this one. If you thought it looked ungainly, well, this one should stay even further away from pageants. Regardless of where you come down this is the best SLS AMG variant we've driven.
