This is a really nice 240d I have for sale. This car has spent it entire life right here in the Tennessee valley for 34 years. Bought new 9/14/1979 by the Johnson family of Signal Mountain from Andy Trotter Mercedes. (now Long Mercedes) The car has been well maintained and garage kept. To be 34 yrs old the interior and exterior look amazing for its age. The paint still looks nice and the interior is not worn out. No dash cracks and all trim, wood, and carpet look really good for the year. The chrome still shines and the paint still beams. Both could use a little polishing here and there but the pictures will show just how nice it really still is. Being a southern car this is not a rust bucket. I found 2 spots on the front valance under the front bumper. The PO made a poor attempt to touch up with a bad choice of yellow but I am currently sanding them down for a more permanent fix. All floors and trunk floor is rock solid.
Mechanically the car runs very well with a recent valve adjustment, oil change, fuel filters changed, new alternator and new battery. It does not have any bad leaks but typical seepage around the seals is present. Glows fast and starts quick! Has decent power for 67hp and the 4 spd automatic shifts perfect. The kickdown switch works to give you first gear if you need it from a stand still.
It has new Dunlop tires that have a few 1000 miles on and they are wearing very well. It tracks very straight with only a little on center steering play noted. I can tell the control arms have been replaced in recent years and the bushings look good. No clunks or shakes. Very smooth controlled ride. I love it!
This is a manual window car (yeah!) and has the optional $600 sunroof. I have the window sticker for the car as well. it has an optional $140 folding armrest that looks great. The vacuum locks work well and hold good pressure. All the switches knobs and lights work including the power antenna. The cruise control is very iffy. It works at certain speeds. I have had it diagnosed and the amp needs to be sent out for rebuild. My guy charges $50 to do it. Easy DIY job. It has a mid 90's Kenwood CD stereo installed. I have the original tool bag and tools, first aid kit that has never been used, and all books, manuals, stickers, and even the salesmans business card.
Heat and all controls work great. It has manual controls and not the dreaded automatic controls. NO push buttons!!! Just knobs!!! the a/c does not work of course. Most do not work anyway. Mine needs a compressor and refitting. I did remove the belt for maintenance reasons. Less stress on the motor. My guy wants around $800 to get the a/c running again. I am selling the car as is.
I commute in this car daily as it is my daily driver. the miles will be increasing and it should have a little over 176k buy the time the auction is thru. Call 7o65o83963 and ask for Joe if you have questions. If I do not answer please leave a message or text will work to. I will be glad to answer and question I can.
PAYPAL deposit of $250 due immediately at auctions end.
Balance due within 7 days after auctions end. I can store the car for $10 a day after the 7 day period. I have a secure inexpensive place at a friends business. Thanks !

Mercedes-Benz CLA stars in sweeping short with supermodel Karlie Kloss
Wed, 16 Jan 2013The Mercedes-Benz CLA earned itself a spot on our list of the top five unveils of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and for good reason. The German luxury compact is the first small car from the Silver Arrow that looks suitably premium inside and out. Nowness.com has turned out a new video of the CLA featuring super model Karlie Koss in the lead role. We aren't entirely sure what the premise is, but from what we can tell, it looks as if the CLA comes to life and proceeds to be a giant jerk.
After Koss stops to take a closer look at a white horse, the CLA gives the supermodel the old stop-and-go treatment before leaving her on the side of the road. Eventually, the sedan makes nice, but Koss has to ride shotgun instead of taking the controls herself. You can check out the video below to see for yourself.
Daimler employees can set email to auto-delete during vacation
Mon, 18 Aug 2014The Internet has shrunk the world in terms of the way people communicate by making it possible to send an email from Oslo and have it show up in Cleveland almost immediately. But that instant contact has wrecked the work/life balance for many. They get home from a long day at the office, yet they can never fully put their feet up and relax because another hour or more of checking and replying to emails awaits. However, German automotive giant Daimler is putting an end to that churn, at least while its employees are on vacation.
About 100,000 Daimler employees in Germany are eligible to opt-in to a new program called Mail on Holiday, according to The Atlantic. When the workers go on vacation, they can switch it on, and the service auto-deletes all of their incoming email. "Our employees should relax on holiday and not read work-related emails," said Wilfried Porth, board member for human resources, to The Financial Times as cited by The Atlantic.
Mail on Holiday puts a thumb on the scale of work/life balance in favor of a little more free time. The system means that Daimler employees shouldn't even be tempted to check their email on vacation because there's nothing there - and it also avoids them coming back from a relaxing holiday only to find a mailbox packed full of hundreds of unread messages. These days, people are absolutely obsessed with their work, often to the detriment of their health, not to mention spending time with their families and friends. On one hand, Mail on Holiday sounds like the sort of vacation breakthrough we'd need to truly unplug and unwind, but on the other hand, it makes our skin crawl just thinking about the lack of communication. Autoblog drives to the Arctic Circle
Fri, 22 Mar 2013In Which Mercedes' Sprinter Becomes A Long-Distance Sherpa
In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.
As I am about to nod off on my long leg flight from Minneapolis to Anchorage ahead of driving to the Arctic Circle, the friendly twenty-something Alaskan knitting furiously in the seat next to me pauses and says, "When you're driving up there, don't open your windows." In the dead of winter? I hadn't planned on cruising alfresco, but her warning to keep the glazing snugged against the weatherstripping is one I would take to heart. She continues: "If you leave 'em open, a fox is liable to jump right in. There are lots of rabid foxes up there, and they leap into your car and just Go. To. Town." And here I was, thinking that a curious bear or maybe an ill-placed moose in the road was going to be my biggest potential four-legged threat. In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.
