Vintage 1966 Mercedes-benz 200-series Heckflosse Fintail 4 Door Sedan on 2040-cars

Year:1966 Mileage:32101
Location:

Cape May, New Jersey, United States

Cape May, New Jersey, United States

Offered for sale is an absolutely gorgeous, extremely original, excellent 1966 Classic Mercedes 200 Sedan finished in a fun two tone blue and white, paired with its awesome interior (totally redone (at great cost) and new (see pics) and showing only 32101 miles on the odometer. Comes with original books and various receipts from over the years.

The carpets and mats are in great condition. The interior looks like it just came off the assembly line. It even has the original working seat belts!

The car runs as well as any Sedan I've ever had the pleasure of driving. Fit with new tires, a recently rebuilt starter and transmission, this is a very strongly maintained vehicle.

Perpetually elegant while remaining undeniably classic, the “Heckflosse” (fintail) sedans are certainly one of the most beautiful and well-balanced cars Mercedes ever produced, epitomizing the mixture of graceful design lines and over-engineered, hand-built solidity for which the marque was - and is STILL - renowned.

Colored in wonderfully era specific blue, the car’s body is free of any evidence of accidents or bondo. The glass is all in excellent original condition for its age, wing windows work great. Color matched hubs.

The car’s interior is equally clean 9/10 The seats show and feel like a new car should, the carpets are in fantastic original condition, the headliner is nearly flawless and interior panels are excellent. The car is kept covered.

Starting easily when warm, idling consistently and pulling strongly and smoothly through each of the gears, the engine has excellent, even compression. The car’s road manners are also fantastic, driving and braking straight, handling cleanly. Whether tooling through town on a weekend cruise or bombing down the highway at 80+ MPH, the car is an absolute joy to drive – modern enough to be comfortably enjoyed as a daily driver, but also visceral enough to provide that great vintage ride quality. Whether its next owner will be a weekend enthusiast or a serious collector, this gorgeous sedan is undoubtedly going to provide another 50 years of “pride of ownership” for it’s next owner.

Considering their rarity and the astronomical prices that their cabriolet siblings are fetching, these "Heckflosse" models have long been undervalued in most classic car enthusiasts’ minds. That’s not always going to be the case, so it is many investors opinions that they represent excellent investment upside. Finding clean and turn key classics such as this is hard enough as it is, but finding a cosmetically and mechanically beautiful example such as this is truly a rare occurrence. Bid accordingly!

We want this car to go to great home and would be happy to further discuss it and answer any questions, so please feel free to email us.

Mercedes dealers authorized to spend $2,500 on perks for S-Class customers

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

If you drop $100,000 on a luxury sedan, it seems only reasonable to receive some preferential treatment at the dealership you purchased from. After all, that price isn't just for the car - you're paying for the brand and all the cachet that entails. For Mercedes-Benz, those benefits have apparently been lacking relative to the German brand's luxury competitors.
That's set to change, though, as Automotive News reports that the German brand is placing a much greater emphasis on keeping its customers happy and loyal with its MB Select program. Starting with the new S-Class and spreading to the CLA-Class (and eventually beyond), dealers are being given money - up to $2,500 in the case of the flagship sedan - just to improve the customer experience.
We agree, improving the "customer experience" is quite a vague term, so it's nice that Mercedes USA's CEO, Steve Cannon, offered up some examples to AN at the LA Auto Show. For example, a customer couldn't fit his sunglasses into the overhead compartment. "So we bought him a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses that fit because of their shape," Cannon said.

Mercedes-Benz releases stunning first images of 2014 S-Class

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

The all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, designated W222, is one of the most highly anticipated debuts of its model year. Every generation of the flagship sedan has broken new ground in technology and innovation for the entire industry, and the German automaker appears determined to raise the bar much further with its latest arrival as it promises to deliver "the best automobile in the world." Mercedes-Benz has just released nearly two dozen interior images of the new sedan, showing off style in design, craftsmanship in execution and pioneering advancements in technology.
Unlike all previous generations - the first S-Class officially arrived in 1972 - the 2014 model completely discards a traditional instrument cluster and replaces it with two high-resolution color displays in 8:3 format with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches (the outgoing model's gauges were a mix of digital and analog). The left unit displays traditional analog gauges (digitally, of course) while the right unit is reserved for infotainment and comfort settings with the automaker's all-new mBrace2 - a cloud-based entertainment and information delivery system that is rolling out this year.

Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG officially teased in mini video

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

The followup to the Mercedes-Benz S550, the S63 AMG, will sport a biturbocharged V8 that will likely turn out around 550 horsepower. The new engine is probably the 5.5-liter, biturbocharged V-8 that's been popping up in everything from the ML63 to the E63 AMG. The front fascia is more aggressive, which shouldn't come as a surprise, while a meaty exhaust setup can be found out back.
We managed to pick all that up from a short, 17-second video posted by MB. The original video that unveiled the S63 AMG has since been pulled down, making this YouTube clip the best look we now have at the new super sedan, at least until the Germans give up the goods for real.
Be sure to check out the video below, along with our original posting on the S63 AMG.
