Unveiled at the 1968 Geneva Motor Show, this update of the 6-cylinder sedans from Mercedes-Benz quietly altered the
manufacturers future and stunned the public. While initially conceived as a private venture, the car quickly gained
support from company executives and Mercedes went on to produce just over 6,500 units. The adoption of the 6.3L
power plant from the 600 limousine (with 300bhp) drafted a new image for Mercedes and an iconic sleeper car was
born.
When released, the 300SEL 6.3 held the distinction of being the "fastest production sedan in the world." Despite
weighing nearly 4,000 lbs, the M100 engine could accelerate the bulky cruiser to 60-mph in 6.3 seconds and support
sustained speeds well in excess of 100-mph. With the list of factory standard items including 4-wheel disc brakes,
adjustable air-ride suspension, power windows and power steering, the capable cruiser quickly became a classic and
is still revered today for it's performance and comfort wrapped neatly in a timeless Paul Bracq ponton.
This particular car comes from the foothills just west of Denver out of a comfy and dry garage. Used, but not
abused, she boasts desirable and very presentable paint which is in strikingly good condition. With spectacular
wood and leather trimmings, the interior does not dispute originality. Light paint checking and age-brittled rubber
in the door jambs and heel pads marks the majority of flaws in this beautiful car. A recently completed service -
which includes new airbags on all four corners, and $17,000 in receipts - makes this car a ready driver for quiet
cruises down the boulevard or an evening on the town. This elegant sedan features all of the classic Mercedes-Benz
appeal... with a rather brute secret hidden under the right pedal

2015 Mercedes C-Class order guide leaked

Wed, 23 Apr 2014

We may not have an official starting price for the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, but as of right now, we can tell you about all the options for the eagerly anticipated new luxury sedan.
Benz Report has the entire order guide for the C-Class, with breakdowns from package pricing to how many different colors, wheel designs and lighting configurations will be available when the new model hits dealers later this year. As we mentioned in our initial review of the C-Class, there will be a pair of engine options, with the now familiar 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder available in both rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations and a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V6, which can be had in all-wheel drive, only.
From there, though, the available options are impressive. Much like it does on the current car, Mercedes is offering a pair of packages that sort of define the entire car. With the C300, buyers will have the choice of either a Sport or Luxury package in addition to the base trim, while C400 buyers are limited to the Sport model.

2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class lineup shows its freshened face

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

Mercedes-Benz showed us its redesigned 2014 E-Class more than a month ago, but the Detroit Auto Show finally gave us a chance to see the full family of mid-size luxury cars and wagons in the flesh. Dieter Zetsche introduced the cars, including sedan, coupe, convertible and station wagon, on stage showing the stylish new design direction.
The wagon and sedan versions (shown as the E400 Hybrid above) will go on sale this spring, while the coupe and cabriolet will hit showrooms over the summer. Check our new gallery of live shots for the entire 2014 E-Class lineup, as well as the previously released press release below.

Mercedes AMG and Cigarette Racing debut 2,220-HP electric motor boat

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

Take the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell, stretch it and take off the wheels then make it float and you've basically got the just-unveiled Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept. Powered by an all-electric powertrain that offers 2,200 horsepower and 2,213 pound-feet of torque (and uses "numerous components" taken from the not-quite-as-yellow SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive), the sleek concept is being called the "world's most powerful electric drive powerboat." What that means is a top speed of over 100 miles per hour from four 60-kWh lithium-ion batteries and two banks of six liquid-cooled, permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors. And the 240 kWh of total energy should provide plenty of juice out on the water.
Launched (but not literally) at the Miami International Boat Show today, the Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept is the result of a partnership between Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing. The boat is 38 feet long (much longer than the 15-foot SLS) and is plastered with AMG branding on the sides and top of the bow above the matte chrome yellow paint (officially called AMG Electricbeam mango). Two 220-kW chargers can refill the batteries, dockside, in about seven hours.
The idea of a powerful electric boat is nothing new (Henrik Fisker talked about a plug-in hybrid watercraft late last year), but this is the first time we've seen Mercedes put its EV technology on the water. Anyone who's afraid of driving an EV in the rain should take note. Check out the complete press release below.
