Up for sale I have this 1983 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel 5-Speed Automatic with approx. 225,000 (young) miles.
I have been commissioned to sell off this car as part of a "down-sizing" of private stock of various vehicles.
This particular car is a 2-owner car. The person I am selling this for has had the car since 1986, bought from a local dealer, (still has the original odometer check and the bill of sale).
The Good: Moon roof, Power Everything, Kenwood 10-disc CD Changer, removable faceplate. (Original radio is included with the car), 5-Speed Automatic, tires are in EXCELLENT condition, newer battery (from AAA). Owners manual, and other original manuals are included, clean car inside & out.
The Concerns: Couple of rust spots near passenger front tire and passenger rear tire. AC & Heat will have to be checked out. The power antenna does not go up (though you can hear the motor when you start & turn off the car). It is currently not inspected.
The car is being sold AS IS, WHERE IS, NO WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. Please ask any questions prior to bidding and I will attempt to answer them for you.
This car still has PLENTY of life in it. Excellent for first-time car or someone who can put on another 225,000 + miles while enjoying cruising around town.
I will sell ONLY within the Continental U.S.A. Winning bidder is responsible for ANY & ALL shipping charges. Payment MUST be made in FULL before car is released to ANYONE.

Maybach lost upwards of $500k on each vehicle sold
Wed, 08 Feb 2012Daimler is shuttering Maybach in 2013 after seven years of production. In that time, the company's ultra-ultra-luxury arm managed to sell just 3,000 units, and CAR reports Daimler lost somewhere around $500,000 on each and every one of them.
Even with a ludicrous price tag of over $370,000 for an "entry" Maybach 57, the brand couldn't quite recoup the dizzying $1.33 billion Daimler poured into it since its (re)inception. Rumors ignited over a possible tie up with Aston Martin that would have resulted in a range of new and attractive models, but Daimler has instead decided to snuff out Maybach altogether.
We can hardly blame them.
Mercedes says it's tops in luxury sales for 2012, not BMW
Tue, 19 Feb 2013It turns out that Mercedes-Benz North America has legitimate claim to being the top selling luxury nameplate in the US in 2012.
While sources such as Autodata had put BMW in the top spot, registration data from R.L. Polk shows that Mercedes customers registering new vehicles topped the Bavarian automaker in the most recent calendar year. Polk says Benz posted 274,123 registrations, compared with BMW's 268,498.
In terms of sales posted, BMW had bested Benz 281,460 to 274,134. But sales are recorded somewhat inconsistently from automaker to automaker. Some book the sales as soon as they are shipped from factory to dealer. There is perennial gamesmanship between the two German rivals, and the sales numbers suggest that BMW pushed out some extra sheetmetal to dealers in the last four weeks of the year.
Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is Affalterbach's first big leap into the little pond
Tue, 05 Mar 2013The recent history of AMG is turning out amped-up versions of Mercedes-Benz offerings that would hardly ever be mistaken for their sedate counterparts. Sure, you'd need to pay attention to pick a G-Class from the G63 AMG, but dual side-pipes are a quick giveaway. The Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is not only a new era in Affalterbach's attention on smaller cars, it is probably also the most subtle transformation we can think of in the line-up.
Low and chunky enough in standard guise to make a sporting impression, the aesthetic makeover is confined to black trim around the lower rim of the hatch, black wheels with red brake calipers and a single, rectangular exhaust tip on either side of the diffuser. It's easier to make a positive ID inside, where the flat-bottomed steering wheel, red seatbelts and red-rimmed details say, "You know what I am..."
If the car is running, though, it won't take but a second. The 2.0-liter turbo spitting 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet will grumble through a sport exhaust at idle, and bellow through the same on it's way to a 0-60 time of less than 4.5 seconds. And if you need something that looks a little harder - and you want those quad pipes - then the A45 AMG Edition 1 is the treasure you seek. There's a press release below for all the info you'll need until the hot hatch goes on sale in Germany later this year, and photos for the rest of us while we wait to find out if we'll get a chance to buy it.
