1985 300 TD wagon in near mint condition. This wagon is entirely original and been garage kept since new. It has spent its life in California and has no rust. I bought it three years ago from a German Mercedes Benz mechanic in Santa Monica, CA. It was one of his personal cars. Every feature on the car is in working condition. If you have spent years looking for the perfect wagon, this could be it. It is an extremely rare color combo, white exterior and black interior. There are no cracks in the dash and there are no leaks. It has extremely low miles and the oil/fluids have been meticulously changed every 3000 miles.

The wagon drives as if it was new. Everything is tight, and it is very powerful. The 1985 has a larger turbo than any other production year for this car; therefore, it is far more powerful than other years/models. The transmission shifts perfectly and it has clean acceleration.  All windows, as well as every other feature, work perfectly.

Cosmetically the interior is near perfect. The only flaws are a three inch scrape in the vinyl seat, which is not punctured, and a couple discolorations in the rear area that are very minor. It has no weird odors.

The exterior is near perfect and original as well. It has a few minor door dings but nothing that could show up by picture except for the passenger side hood area. There is a small dent there but no scrape in the paint. It's a three inch area. Once again, very minor but it's the one flaw keeping it from being perfect. I replaced the rims with brand new chrome OEM wheels and brand new Perrelli tires. Rear hydraulics work and the car does not sag. I drove over fifty  300TD wagons before I found this one, and that is not an exaggeration.

The 4 cross bars on the roof that are shown in the pictures do not come with the wagon.

Other items I have replaced:
- Hood pad
- Front shocks
- Shifter bushing
- Glow plugs
- Glow plug relay
-battery

Car is available for viewing. Please email me with any questions. Thank you!

BMW expects China to pass US as its top market in 2013

Thu, 11 Jul 2013

When you combine two billion citizens, 100 cities with more than a million inhabitants and an economy that's as unrestrained as Jim Cramer on an Adderall binge, China's explosive auto industry growth shouldn't be a huge surprise. Audi already lists the communist country as its largest market, while Mercedes-Benz is expecting it to be there in the next few years. Now, according to a report from Automotive News, BMW is expecting the People's Republic to overtake the United States in sales by the end of 2013.
We already discovered the extent that BMW is going to in establishing a dedicated Chinese stronghold, when we explored BMW's Shanghai-based DesignWorks studio ahead of April's Shanghai Motor Show. And while we argued that DesignWorks Shanghai hasn't really borne fruit, it isn't due to a lack of sales.
BMW China has seen a 16-percent jump in year-over-year sales, lead by a 28-percent gain in 5 Series sales. Part of BMW's growth strategy comes from an ever-expanding dealership network. Remember those 100 cities we mentioned with over one million people? According to Karsten Engel, CEO of BMW's Chinese operations, those 100-million-plus city dwellers don't have access to a premium dealership.

Why all of this year's F1 noses are so ugly [w/video]

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

If you're a serious fan of Formula One, you already know all about The Great Nosecone Conundrum of 2014. Those given to parsing each year's F1 regulations predicted the strong possibility of the so-called "anteater" noses as far back as early December 2013. Highly suggestive visual evidence first came after Caterham's crash test in early January, with further proof coming as soon as Williams showed a rendering of the FW36 challenger for this year's championship. That car earned a name that wasn't nearly so kind as "anteater."
Casual followers of the sport - or anyone who gets the feed from this site - probably don't know what's happening, except to wonder why the current year's F1 cars are led by appendages that would make Cyrano de Bergerac feel a whole lot better about himself.
The short answer to the question of ugsome F1 noses is "FIA regulations and safety." The reason there are various kinds of ugsome noses is simpler: engineers. The same boffins who have given us advances including carbon fiber monocoques, six-wheeled cars, double diffusers and Drag Reduction Systems are bred to do everything in their power to exploit every possible freedom in the regulations to make the cars they're building go faster - the caveat being that those advances have to work within the overall philosophy of the whole car.

Mercedes Makes A Mighty Little Sedan
We got overexcited when the W203 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan came out in 2001, calling it the "Baby Benz" when it really wasn't. We knew that, too, but our enthusiasm for a model more like the old 190 of the '80s was so strong that we were willing to stretch the first-gen C-Class to fit that mold. Today, the C-Class has done what all German premium cars do: grown in size. In this case, grown to satisfy the market intentions of the previous E-Class.
There was the tall A-Class sold from 1998 through 2010, but we never considered that a serious small Benz in the proper spirit, nor was it ever offered in the US. Regardless, we've been craving a smaller, premium, sexy sedan all the while.
