1986 Mercedes Benz 300sdl Inline 6 Turbo Diesel on 2040-cars

I have a 1986 Mercedes 300SDL with the 3.0 inline 6 turbo diesel. Good body, has a few shopping cart dings, interior good shape, normal wear and tear, dash has cracks but have dash cover on it now. 29 HWY MPG, The car has 292k miles on the odo but quit working in april. Car is in very good shape for the age and is clean inside. It starts, runs and drives but transmission needs a little work. Itll shift through 1-4 gears but will pop out of fourth gear sometimes and just rev. Im not sure what it is, im not good with transmssions. More than likely itll need a new transmission or rebuild. Its still my daily driver and has never let me down. Sunroof is non functional right now, all windows work except left rear I think it's the switch, car needs alignment (pulls to right) Ignition switch broke so there is a push button start button installed temporarily, have new switch thatll go with it. I really like this car but it has a few issues that need addressed. Recently ive done oil change, fuel filters, steering damper. Highest bidder gets it. Online Find of the Day: Lexus-engined Mercedes pickup is a vintage hybrid
Tue, 16 Sep 2014You have to love someone who gets incredibly committed to a very weird idea. What you see for sale here is a right-hand drive 1971 Mercedes-Benz 220D in South Africa, but this old Mercedes is now converted into a pickup, complete with bed cover, and there's big secret under the hood, too.
The pickup conversion appears well done based on seller Sedgefield Classic Cars' photos. Even the tonneau cover fits well. You could almost believe that this Mercedes lived its life as a Chevrolet El Camino-like pickup from the very beginning.
However, the rear-quarters conversion might not be the weirdest thing about this Mercedes. The original diesel is gone from the engine bay in favor of a Lexus V8. It seems really odd to pop the hood and find a Japanese mill in this German car, but the photos make it look like a fairly well performed swap. So, bravo to the crazy thinking. According to the seller speaking to Autoblog by email, "as far as we can establish, this was done a few years ago, with all Lexus components."

Aston Martin and Daimler continue talks on SUV project, CEO required
Tue, 01 Apr 2014The Aston Martin Lagonda SUV concept revealed at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show didn't earn the plaudits the company is used to when it reveals new models, and it has lived an uncertain life ever since. Thought to have been scrapped along with the entire revival of the Lagonda brand, then thought to have been resurrected due to Chinese, Middle Eastern and Russian demand, another year passed before we heard more definitive talk about an Aston Martin expansion when AutoCar reported that the Lagonda could be built on one of Mercedes-Benz's AMG SUV platforms.
A report in Automotive News Europe indicates plans have gotten serious, its unnamed sources saying that the English carmaker is talking to Daimler "to extend their cooperation to building an SUV." Neither Daimler, Aston Martin nor Investindustrial, the managing partner among Aston Martin's ownership consortium, would comment. But with Investindustrial having pledged to expand the range, competitors like Bentley, Maserati and Lamborghini getting into the SUV racket and clear demand from current and future customers, it's easy to believe Aston Martin is working hard to put the pieces together.
One further potential bump on the road to an Aston SUV is the company's search for a new CEO. Ulrich Bez relinquished to top spot at the company at the end of 2013, and Aston reportedly will not finalize its model strategy without a new CEO in place.
