We have a bunch of Mercedes, but this one is the first of a few I am selling.
My girlfriend decided she wanted one after she rode around in my "78 300D.
So, she decided on this one, then decided that she liked my old 240D better,
so I it to her. Now, this car is not needed.

I bought this car about 6 months ago and had it on the road for the first three.

Here are all the details:
As soon as I bought it, I had to do the following:
-Replace the flex tube on the exhaust.
-Put 4 new tires on.
-Adjust the valves.
That's about it, other than change the oil and do a general servicing.

Since, then, I had the vacuum modulator go bad (stopped holding pressure), I noticed this after it had been sitting for 3 months.I installed a new one and I adjusted it enough to make sure it shifts, IT WILL NEED TO BE properly adjusted.  It shifts 2-4 without effort (for those who don't know, most Benz's start in 2nd gear and the kickdown is used for quick downshifts). It needs to be adjusted to get the kickdown working.

Now, here are the good and bad lists:

The GOOD:
-Absolutely no rust
-The interior is average, not bad, just not great.
-The engine runs without issue (good cold starts, very quick)
-The turbo is working.
-The exhaust is good (the CC is gutted, it was clogged-who needs a CC on a diesel?). I replaced the flex tube.
-The entire vacuum system is intact. NO ONE HAS screwed with it.
-The tires all all new.
-New wiper blades.
-All electronics work on the interior, right down to the headrests!
-It passed inspection recently (see sticker on windshield and is good for some time)
-Drives Smoothly
-Everything on the dash works, except the odometer.

The bad:
-No hood ornament or truck ornament.
-Even though the interior is average, it's still average
-No stereo.I pulled mine out in order to sell the car.
-The AC does not work. Don't ask me, I don;t use AC so I've never cared. The compressor is there.
-Sometimes, the heat blows cool (probably the monovalve).
-No hood ornament.
-No Benz symbol on the truck.
-The clear coat has peeled in places (see pics).
-The gas pedal is gone (I have one that I'll give with the car), it broke, as all old Benz pedals do. The accelerator arm is there, so no problem with driving it.

I will have this car available at my business in Winchester, VA upon request. Just call and make an appointment if you would like to see it.

Also, feel free to call me with questions. My daytime number is 540-667-4777. My cell is 540-532-0250. Ask for Erik
Email me directly: kerouac.down@gmail.com

I bought this car for a dime, so I'm starting the bidding at what I paid for it, before I put money into it.
The Buy it Now price includes what I have spent on the car.

I require a $500 deposit at auctions end. You MUST pick this car up within 10 Days.
If it will take you longer, you must make arrangements.

I make ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY, but I deem this car to be safe and it runs well.
Good luck, this is a very good deal.

Mercedes Concept GLA45 AMG is ready to run

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

This is the Mercedes-Benz Concept GLA45 AMG, and what we mean by that is, "This is the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG." Mercedes has just unveiled the liveried 'concept' at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, giving potential customers a very good look at the newest lunatic in the AMG asylum - a 355-horsepower, 332-pound-foot crossover that uses the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the CLA45 AMG and Europe's A45 AMG.
Joined with a seven-speed, AMG Speedshift dual-clutch transmission and an AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, Mercedes promises a sub-five-second run to 60 miles per hour. That's not just quick for a crossover, that's quick full stop.
That sleek, lifted body has also been tweaked by the minds at AMG's Affalterbach facility. A new rear spoiler, side sills and front clip are the primary aerodynamic tweaks. Aesthetically, AMG has fitted the requisite "Turbo" badges, gloss-black accents (including exhaust tips and roof rails) and a set of 21-inch, AMG-spec alloy wheels to round out the overall package. Based on the spy shots we've seen, expect slightly toned down aerodynamics when the GLA45 AMG arrives in showrooms.

Firing of M-B boss upheld

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

Ernst Lieb, the disgraced former CEO of American operations for Mercedes-Benz, will not be getting any more money from the Silver Arrow'd teat. His wrongful dismissal suit against MB's parent company, Daimler, was tossed out of a German appeals panel. This, followed the initial rejection by a lower court last year.
According to court documents acquired by Automotive News, Lieb was found to have "accepted payments of substantial value to which he - as he was aware - had no claim."
Lieb took over American operations from former CEO Paul Halata in September of 2006. Reports surfaced in October of 2011 that Lieb was dismissed from his posting at MB, with a variety of rumors swirling. Eventually, news broke that financial wrong doing was responsible for the German's firing.

Highlights from the Goodwood Festival of Speed, including the McLaren P1 and a Ford Transit running the hill

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

The sole purpose of this post is as a time-waster, and since you shouldn't have to work to waste time, we've done it for you. In the numerous videos below you'll find cars that have lately been in the news tramping all over the grounds of Lord March's estate in Goodwood, England.
There's the McLaren P1 heading up the hill, the Jaguar Project 7, then a casually-driven Porsche 917 followed by an even-more-casually-driven Porsche 956, topped off by a Porsche 936 that is anything but casually driven. The next round is the flame-spitting Peugeot 405 T16 Pikes Peak from Climb Dance, a camera mounted on the Peugeot RCZ R after it showing you what the whole, uninterrupted run up the hill looks like. For a real head-turner, we couldn't embed it but there's Andy Reid blasting up the hill in a Ford Transit Supervan with a Cosworth 3000 V6 engine.
The modern racing contingent has Allan McNish doing the hill in the Audi R18 e-tron quattro he used to win Le Mans and Lewis Hamilton making lots of tire smoke in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas MGP-W02. For comparison, that's followed by Nick Heidfeld's record-setting run up the hill in 1999 in the McLaren MP4/14 . The classic racing contingent is headlined by 71-year-old Giacomo Agostini on an MV Agusta.
