This is my personal E55 up for sale!  I just bought another car and I don’t have space for two, so I am very reluctantly selling it.

For those that don’t know, the W210 E55 AMG is amongst the best value-for-money AMGs, period.  In fact, few other cars offer the same blend of outright performance, quality build, practicality, and reliability that come as neatly wrapped as the W210 E55 package.  They’re fast and bullet-proof and don’t have the expensive and frequent repair issues of the W211s (2003-2006) E55s, especially the $1,000/ corner Airmatic DC shocks.

Since fewer than 2,000 cars were imported to the USA, there is only a small number of well-documented low mileage examples left.

In this case, I bought the car from the original owning family in Miami.  All major service history is documented since new.  The prior owner pampered the car and it really shows.

It’s highly unlikely that you will find a car with so few miles, no accident history and a complete service history.  This E55 is truly a rare find.

Exterior

The car is finished in Obsidian Metallic on black interior as opposed to the majority of cars which are silver or 040 Black. The paint is glossy wet and in excellent condition. The previous owner was meticulous with the car. Fortunately, it shows! One of the reasons I picked this car, is because it hides dirt and dust better than black, and it's in pristine condition! I use Meguiars car wash, Zymol wax and Liquid Glass auto polish that is used on airplanes. (clearly I have praaablems) The paint doesn't have any swirls, scratches or dings, and the body is pretty straight!  The car has also never been in any accidents and has a clean CarFax.

Interior

The interior is finished in black nappa leather. The seats are soft and supple with perforations. The seats don't have any tears, rips, stains, blemishes, or show any signs of neglect. The carpet inside is as fresh as it is when it was new. There aren't any stains, rips, spills, or holes in the carpet. I also purchased genuine Mercedes-Benz all weather floor mats to protect the interior if it was raining, and just to protect the floor mats that are in the car. I also purchased a custom fitted sun shade to help protect the car from heat and the rays from the sun. The wood in the car is a Black Birds-Eye Maple. I like the color because it blends in well with the black upholstery.  The seats were treated with Leatherique® by hand and no expense was spared for mechanical maintenance.

Mechanical

What can I say? When I bought this car, I had the prior owner furnish all of the service records, which I still have.  I’m happy to furnish a summary of work done to date. I feel that with this calibre of a car, it's SO important to know the history! Another reason I bought it from a private seller who was a stickler for maintenance.  So, since I've had it, the only thing I've had done is the typical belt-tensioner and serpentine belt ($700) and the trunk lock, which died ($800).

The prior owner replaced a variety of things, including the all-important A/C Evaporator for a whopping $3,000.  This is the Achilles heel of the W210 chassis and every car seems to need a new one at one point or another.

The regularly gets 24mpg on the highway, which is awesome for a 5.5L V8 engine!  To my knowledge, the car appears to need nothing more than a new home.

And since it's safely parked in my driveway, until the new owner comes to get it, it won’t need attention. I always run Premium unleaded in this car, and I spare no expense to ensure its upkeep. This is my 16th Mercedes I've owned. So, I'm not just an individual with a "Benz" in the driveway. I'm the kind of individual that keeps his cars squared away and clean. I believe in preventative maintenance rather than repetitive maintenance. Should you need an inspection, I would be more than happy to take it to a Mercedes-Benz dealer (at your expense) for a "pre-purchase inspection"

Tyres

Tyres on this car are in great condition. They are top-of-the line Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ($1,100) and were installed just before I bought the car.

The Fine Print

Okay, so here's the deal. If you've gotten this far, it's obvious that you are serious about my car

I have tried to describe everything to the best of my knowledge, and I don't have anything to hide. If you have questions, I would be glad to answer them for you. My name is Farra and my cell number is 610-389-4329. If I don't answer, please leave me a message. I will call you back. As far as price goes, I believe it is priced quietly fairly given its pedigree. You can buy a cheaper one, sure.  But you really do get what you pay for.

This car is not just an AMG that has been bought and sold by an independent dealer that doesn't have a solid paper trail. If you want a car that has no books and records, you will pay for it...not now, but in the long run in maintenance. If you haven't checked on what an evaporator (common problem) on this car is, it's not a $500 deal...try $4,000.00! So, if you want a damn good solid car, then here ya go!

I have a free and clear title in hand. If you buy the car, you will have to get a temporary plate through your DMV or PA DMV if you plan on driving it out of state or anywhere at that matter.

Shipping

If you plan on coming to Philly, I would be glad to coordinate a time to pick you up from either airport. If you have a shipper and want to ship it, I would be glad to meet them if needed close to the house so they can load it on the truck. I will do the inspection with the driver before it goes on the truck so that everything is legit. I'm flexible with whatever you want to do, just let me know. The car is being sold by me, and I am not a dealer or a third party. The car is being sold AS/IS-WHERE/IS, and no warranties are implied. If you need a shipper, I will be glad to help you.

I wish everyone the best of luck, and you won't be sorry!

Brabus 800 Roadster is a power-mad aristocrat

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

If we're being completely honest, we haven't exactly been in love with the aesthetics of the sixth-generation Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. It's mostly a front-end issue, with its glowering eagle-eye headlamps and upright, dinner-plate-sized Three-Pointed Star coming across to us as overwrought. That's particularly troublesome for a roadster whose history has of the most elegant designs of all time in its back catalog. Somehow, the new R231 generation's brash visuals seem more at home on this Brabus 800 Roadster to us.
That's probably because the high-dollar German tuner has turned up the wick on the SL's visuals even further, with carbon fiber bodywork, a more aggressive aero kit, matte hood scoop and complex two-finish wheels. It's all-the-way committed to its brashness, in other words - and justifiably so. Anything with 800 horsepower and 1,047 pound-feet of torque has earned the right to look however it wants, right?
Brabus started with the SL65 and its not-exactly-underpowered 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12, and went to town, fitting their own turbocharger and intercooler system, along with a less-restrictive exhaust system with driver-selectable sound levels and new engine electronics. The result is a 3.7-second 0-62 mph time, an electronically limited top whack of 217 mph... and one seriously compromised toupée.

First official shot of Mercedes S-Class Coupe leaks out

Mon, 10 Feb 2014

With the official debut for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe expected tomorrow, it shouldn't be a surprise that some clicky fingers have already managed to uncover an official image of the car before the unveiling. Outside of this sole image, though, there's precious little detail on the new car.
First posted by Autofilou and then picked up by WorldCarFans, the production S-Class Coupe isn't far off from the concept car we saw a few months back in Frankfurt. Like the concept, the leggy production model appears related, albeit distantly, to the S-Class Sedan. The hood and front fascia are longer and lower, befitting of a two-door, while the character lines in the profile are more pronounced. Obviously, the beltline and slim, B-pillarless greenhouse are coupe-only items. We can't see any details on the back of the car, although it does appear that the long hood has a correspondingly short rear deck.
We'll have all the details on the official replacement for the CL-Class when it makes its full debut tomorrow. Until then, what do you think of this lone image? Does it appear that Mercedes has got it right? In terms of design, where would you rank this with the departing CL-Class? Have your say in Comments.

Test drive the Mercedes SLS AMG Electric Drive with Chris Harris

Thu, 11 Apr 2013

It's hard to not like the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT. The all-aluminum coupe is fitted with a wonderful naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 delivering 583 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. Not only does the burly combustion engine launch the two-seater to 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds, but it does so with one of the world's greatest exhaust soundtracks as it roars, burbles and cackles down the road.
But what happens when Mercedes-Benz takes away the V8 and its accompanying fire-burning song? Stripped of one of its most appealing assets, does the SLS lose its soul?
Chris Harris recently had the opportunity to take the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive for a track spin in Europe. Sans gasoline, but with four electric motors providing a combined 740 horsepower (737 pound-feet of torque), all-electric all-wheel drive coupe uses sophisticated torque vectoring and a multi-mode operating system to put oversteer - drifting! - back into the equation. Fun? You bet. See for yourself, below.
