For sale is a beautiful 1985 300TDT in very nice condition, inside & out. It is a documented, low mileage car that has never lived in the snow, and thus has "O" rust from the salted roads. This vehicle lived in Texas & Florida before coming to rest in California. I have owned this beauty for less than a year & have driven it very little. I need to thin out my large diesel herd, so I thought I would start with the prettiest one first.
The exterior is beautiful with only the drivers door & fender being repainted at some point(MB 040 paint). There are some door dings & light scratches which do not show in the pics.. If you wished, paintless dent removal could have the exterior looking brand new. The rubber, chrome & glass is excellent.
The interior is excellent with the leather seats looking almost new, with very little wear. The headliner is excellent with no rips or tears. The carpet is clean & w/o tears, but there is fading in the rear compartment. The dash is perfect, w/o a single crack!
The car starts, runs fine & the trans shifts normally. The only thing I have done to this car is change the oil, & repair some items that were not working or broken. Everything works except the A/C, as it blows warm air. Possibly a new compressor is needed.
I've tried to give an accurate description, but remember that it is a 28yo auto. Other wear items may need to be replaced over time.
Please feel free to contact for any additional info or pics.

Next Mercedes-Benz GLK to get AMG variant? Not likely...

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

If you think Mercedes-Benz will slap an AMG badge on anything with wheels, think again. Word has it the German manufacturer will not offer buyers a performance version of the GLK, with Tobias Moers, director of AMG vehicle development, saying that he doesn't see a market for the car. That's not to say the picture won't change in the near future, however. According to CarAdvice.com, AMG is keeping a close eye on the arrival of the Porsche Macan.
"Maybe there will be a change in the market when the Porsche [Macan] comes up," Moers said, "but right now, no."
The real hitch in the giddy-up seems to be cost. Moers says developing the machine into something worthy of an AMG would represent "a huge investment." We can't exactly argue with that. Fortunately, AMG buyers have plenty of Mercedes-Benz models to choose from.

Aston Martin and Daimler continue talks on SUV project, CEO required

Tue, 01 Apr 2014

The Aston Martin Lagonda SUV concept revealed at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show didn't earn the plaudits the company is used to when it reveals new models, and it has lived an uncertain life ever since. Thought to have been scrapped along with the entire revival of the Lagonda brand, then thought to have been resurrected due to Chinese, Middle Eastern and Russian demand, another year passed before we heard more definitive talk about an Aston Martin expansion when AutoCar reported that the Lagonda could be built on one of Mercedes-Benz's AMG SUV platforms.
A report in Automotive News Europe indicates plans have gotten serious, its unnamed sources saying that the English carmaker is talking to Daimler "to extend their cooperation to building an SUV." Neither Daimler, Aston Martin nor Investindustrial, the managing partner among Aston Martin's ownership consortium, would comment. But with Investindustrial having pledged to expand the range, competitors like Bentley, Maserati and Lamborghini getting into the SUV racket and clear demand from current and future customers, it's easy to believe Aston Martin is working hard to put the pieces together.
One further potential bump on the road to an Aston SUV is the company's search for a new CEO. Ulrich Bez relinquished to top spot at the company at the end of 2013, and Aston reportedly will not finalize its model strategy without a new CEO in place.

Maybach lost upwards of $500k on each vehicle sold

Wed, 08 Feb 2012

Daimler is shuttering Maybach in 2013 after seven years of production. In that time, the company's ultra-ultra-luxury arm managed to sell just 3,000 units, and CAR reports Daimler lost somewhere around $500,000 on each and every one of them.
Even with a ludicrous price tag of over $370,000 for an "entry" Maybach 57, the brand couldn't quite recoup the dizzying $1.33 billion Daimler poured into it since its (re)inception. Rumors ignited over a possible tie up with Aston Martin that would have resulted in a range of new and attractive models, but Daimler has instead decided to snuff out Maybach altogether.
We can hardly blame them.
