Both cars run well down the road and the 300 SDL I have driven for 3 weeks straight at 24.9 MPG each time I check. I have gotten 27 MPG two times. I stopped driving it when my breaks started leaking down. The 1984 SD has been sitting in a garage till a couple of days ago and it started and ran very well, I like it better then the 86. Both cars have good and bad things with them but I will answer any questions you may have. Both cars are the same color and I think most parts are the same."

Ok the 300 SD runs great and has around 150,000 on the millage but the odometer does not work and the speed only works some. The SD has been parked sense 2009 because someone keeyed the sides trunk and hood but other then that and a broken blinker, the body looks great. The sun roof works and all windows work but the seats could use some covers or work. The tires on the SD look ok but one had lost its air and needed air in it. This car is way fun to drive. Ok now the 300SDL has nicer seats and inside but it is still a 86 model so not like new. The SDL has 267,000 but the odometer slips on it some also so it is probably a little more. These cars are known to go 400,000 miles though or more. The SDL has a damaged hood but it still shuts and will hold while driving and one 3 inch dent on front left finder. The hood was not shut good and came up while driving after a oil change. The window is also cracked down the middle but it is only one long crack and does not leak. The sun roof is stuck shut but does not leak, Switch for passenger side window is bad, I will respond to any questions asked. I hate to get rid of these but I need a truck for work. I do love these cars and they are very fun to drive! Being that they are from the 1980's, they do need some love and care. Its like driving a sporty cloud on veggie oil. I will help load cars but shipping or pick up is your responsibility.

SRT Viper dukes it out with Mercedes SLS Black Series in new Head 2 Head

Fri, 05 Jul 2013

In Episode 36 of Motor Trend's Head 2 Head, now that the Corvette ZR1 is no more, Jonny Lieberman has to look overseas to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series for a challenger with similar philosophy to the SRT Viper: long hood hiding a high-horsepower engine set way back, rear-wheel drive, tiny trunks. That puts the Viper's 8.4-liter V10 with 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque against the SLS AMG's 6.2-liter V8 with 622 hp and 468 lb-ft.
However, the congruences in philosophy and magnitude of numbers doesn't translate to the driving experiences of the two, which are literally and figuratively on different continents. Lieberman gets a handle on the two of them on Northern California roads, Randy Probst then finds out how, and how quickly, they can lap Laguna Seca.
They both get kudos for being improvements on their original sources, but only one of them can take the win. You can find out by watching the video below.

Chris Harris and David Coulthard wring out a Mercedes Fintail at the N"urburgring

Thu, 17 Oct 2013

If there's one thing we've learned from the latest video from Drive, it's that the combination of Chris Harris and David Coulthard will produce some very quotable moments. Take this exchange, for example.
DC: "We are by some way the slowest."
CH: "But we're in a class of three cars, apparently."

2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Coupe

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

Mercedes-Benz upgraded its SLS flagship Coupe and Roadster for the 2013 model year, and the changes are marked with them new "GT" nomenclature. Both SLS models arrive with a retuned naturally aspired 6.2-liter V8 delivering 583 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque (the horses are up from 563, but the torque remains the same) mated to a revised seven-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch gearbox. Rounding out the mechanical upgrades is a redeveloped AMG two-mode adaptive suspension. Physically, the revised models are differentiated by their new "GT" badging, darkened headlight/taillight buckets, red brake calipers, unique wheel colors and high gloss finish on the front grille, exterior mirrors and hood/fender fins. Inside the cabin are new red seatbelts, Alcantara upholstery and contrasting red stitching.
As it is nearly impossible to experience the aluminum gullwing beast on public roads, Mercedes invited out to Southern California's Willow Springs to wring out the 2013 SLS GT Coupe on a racing circuit.
