VIDEO PRESENTATION, BELOW!
This gorgeous dream of a car is in very good condition ready to be driven away. A Champaign Metalic finish is showcased on the exterior of this car; in very nice condition once you see the car you will fall in love.
You will drive in class to the golf course or tennis courts either as a convertible or a hard top. This 450 SL sure has that classic look of the earlier Mercedes models.
Since 2012, some of the repairs that have been performed are; new sun visors, new brake calipers and pads, new subframe bushings, new exhaust system, a new battery, new pan gasket, and new plugs along with some basic maintainance.
The body is very straight and there is sure no sign of repairs or chips/scratches. Ther appears to be no rust evident.
The interior looks like almost new, the seats do show some wear from over the years but no upgrade was done. It's very original. With some leather conditioner, I think the seats would come back to very good condition. The dash is also in very nice. There are ususually cracks on these older Mercedes dashes, but this dash has one very small crack that is not real obvious.
The car is believed to be original miles, averaging 1700 miles a year the car sure does not seem like it has been driven a lot in the past .
An updated Alpine stereo was added with a 6 CD changer in the trunk.
All of its equipment is currently working, the AC, radio, gauges and lights. Including aftermarket speakers located in the rear of the car for those days when all you want to do is listen to music and enjoy the drive.
It is very rare to see a 1980 Mercedes in this great condition, we can truly say it is one of the nicer 450SL models we've seen for a while.
The car rides on BF Goodrich tires and its original Mercedes Benz wheels, size tires in the front and the rear P205/70R14
The removable hard top is in excellent condition.
The trunk is the perfect example of how great this car is, it is extremely clean and very spacious for those grocery days.
Its hard to believe this car is over 30 years old, this could be a cherished addition to your collection. Carrying a 4.5L engine and producing up to 220 hp @ 5000rpm this car drives smooth and shift its gears very easily.
The brown convertible soft top is also very nice on the car.
The undercarriage is in very nice original condition. It's very solid with no obvious signs of rust.
Cigarette Racing has another Mercedes-Benz AMG-themed boat headed out to sea. After The SLS AMG-inspired 46-foot Rough Rider in 2010 and the C63 AMG Black Series-inspired 50-foot Marauder in 2012, this year's Miami Boat Show will introduce the 42-foot Huntress, theme provided by the G63 AMG. The latest Cigarette homage is less overly racy than the ones before, befitting a watercraft modeled off a performance SUV, but don't let the looks fool: there are five Mercury Racing Verado 350SCi outboard engines, each one of them packing a supercharged inline six-cylinder with, natch, 350 horsepower. Those 1,750 horses will be good for 78 miles per hour when you've got some saltwater underneath you. If you're in South Florida this week, Booth B-23 at the Miami Convention Center could be your best place to see it. Otherwise, like the 536-hp G63 AMG, it could be hard to catch. There's a press release with more information below.
In Episode 36 of Motor Trend's Head 2 Head, now that the Corvette ZR1 is no more, Jonny Lieberman has to look overseas to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series for a challenger with similar philosophy to the SRT Viper: long hood hiding a high-horsepower engine set way back, rear-wheel drive, tiny trunks. That puts the Viper's 8.4-liter V10 with 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque against the SLS AMG's 6.2-liter V8 with 622 hp and 468 lb-ft. However, the congruences in philosophy and magnitude of numbers doesn't translate to the driving experiences of the two, which are literally and figuratively on different continents. Lieberman gets a handle on the two of them on Northern California roads, Randy Probst then finds out how, and how quickly, they can lap Laguna Seca. They both get kudos for being improvements on their original sources, but only one of them can take the win. You can find out by watching the video below.
The new 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is upon us, launching initially in North America with turbocharged four-cylinder C300 4Matic and six-cylinder C400 4Matic flavors. But that's only the tip of the proverbial iceberg when it comes to the vast array of powertrain configurations that will be offered in the new C-Class in markets around the world. Orders will soon be rolling in for gasoline, hybrid and diesel engines with four, six or eight cylinders, driving the rear wheels or all four, with the seven-speed automatic transmission soon to be replaced by a new nine-speed unit. But what enthusiasts are really looking forward to is the next C63 AMG. As BMW has done with the M3 (and new M4), Mercedes has gradually ratcheted up the cylinder count in its AMG C-Class, graduating from the 3.6-liter V6 in the original C36 AMG to the 4.3-liter V8 in the C43 AMG, then the 5.5-liter V8 in the C55 AMG before going the distance with the sublime 6.2-liter V8 in the C63 AMG. Like its rivals, Mercedes is expected to use turbochargers as a replacement for displacement in the next model, but unlike its Bavarian rival, it won't be losing any cylinders in the process. Skipping the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 that has gone on to power other AMG models, the next C63 AMG is still expected to introduce a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing between 450 and 500 horsepower. It'll also reportedly keep the same seven-speed automatic transmission (instead of switching to the new nine-speed), but the jury's still out on whether it'll come with rear- or all-wheel drive (or offer buyers the choice). The downsized V8 - codenamed M177 - is then expected to find its way into other models, but the C-Class will be the first to get it when it arrives before the end of the new year ahead.
