If you are looking at this listing little needs to be explained in regards to the rarity and colectablity of this 1972 Mercedes Benz 600 SWB, especially being a final production year example. In 1972, only 210 examples were produced. Of the 2677 total production, it is believed that only 1000-1500 Mercedes 600's still exist today. The car was ordered by my client new, A US spec car he picked up in Europe then shortly had it shipped to the United States.  An all original car with 56,000 miles on it the car has spent most of its life in California no rust or corrosion is present. The air suspension works properly along with all of the functions from the seat controls, windows to the automatic rear trunk mechanism. He ordered it with all the options including a matching leather headliner from the factory and rare sunroof option. All of the original items intact with the car such as tool kit, books, ect.. will be included in the sale. The only mentionable issues are in the rear of the car at the base of the center consul arm rest another phone was installed which was later removed. There is a 2 millimeter chip above the passenger side headlight I have pictured it but its barely noticeable and at the base of the passenger door jam some seatbelt markings. Otherwise the paint is lustrous the chrome is shiny and buff, the leather is supple for its age with no signs of cracking or wear to the dash or wood throughout the car. It is obvious that the 600 has been properly stored when not in use. These 600's are becoming increasingly sought after, this is a unique opportunity to own an all original one owner car. Please also note leather conditioner had been applied recently so some extra residue can be seen on the seats. All information acuracy has been represented and can be confirmed by the owner. I can help buyer arrange for shipping locally and overseas. I reserve the right to end the auction early at any time. Inspections are welcome.

Here are pictures and a cold start clip of the 600 in the dropbox link below. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Maybach lost upwards of $500k on each vehicle sold

Wed, 08 Feb 2012

Daimler is shuttering Maybach in 2013 after seven years of production. In that time, the company's ultra-ultra-luxury arm managed to sell just 3,000 units, and CAR reports Daimler lost somewhere around $500,000 on each and every one of them.
Even with a ludicrous price tag of over $370,000 for an "entry" Maybach 57, the brand couldn't quite recoup the dizzying $1.33 billion Daimler poured into it since its (re)inception. Rumors ignited over a possible tie up with Aston Martin that would have resulted in a range of new and attractive models, but Daimler has instead decided to snuff out Maybach altogether.
We can hardly blame them.

2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S 4Matic [w/video]

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

Maybe you saw our recent blog snippet on a bunch of US journos getting pulled over in the middle of nowhere in Catalunya, Spain for driving a bunch of new 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG models. By all accounts, they weren't speeding - which makes me softly guffaw. I was there in that group, yet I had taken the more direct route into the mountains from Barcelona so that I could... well, so that I could go faster. No one hassled me and I had the Autovia all to myself. And it was the goodniks - the team players - who got nabbed because Spain had decided to suddenly enforce the never enforced "must carry an international driver's license" clause of the highway code.
The departing E63 AMG with 518 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque from its M157 5.5-liter biturbo V8 hasn't exactly been poorly received. It isn't as crisp as, nor as pleasantly evil as its C63 AMG kid brother, but we generally accept that the heavier and larger car will always feel, well, heavier and larger.
As part of the 2014 E-Class mid-cycle redesign, Affalterbach decided to give its E63 AMG more power and torque for the occasion. The base car now gives off 550 hp and 531 lb-ft, while the hotter S version I tested (formerly the AMG Performance Pack) produces 577 hp and 590 lb-ft. The other big novelty is that E63 sedans will be available with both rear- and all-wheel drive, while all US-spec E63 wagons will be 4Matic equipped.

Mercedes was set to sell version of Nissan Titan, now Infiniti might instead

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

Mercedes-Benz Titan. Mercedes-Benz Frontier. Mercedes-Benz pickup truck. None of these things roll off the tongue particularly well. We'd like to think that's the reason Daimler opted to kill the idea of rebadged Titan and Frontier pickups from corporate ally Nissan. In reality, the execution before the Frankfurt Motor Show was due to more complicated issues.
Yes, Mercedes, byword for German luxury, style and quality, would have slapped a three-pointed star on a pair of Japanese pickup trucks that have failed to resonate with consumers in the world's largest truck market. That slapping of badges isn't much of an exaggeration, at least on the outside. According to the report from Road & Track, the truck's front clip would have been tweaked, but beyond that, the sheetmetal would have been unchanged. The interior would have received a more thorough going-over by the team at Mercedes, while the suspension and noise, vibration and harshness tuning would have also received significant attention.
The trucks would have ended up being sold through the light-commercial branch of Mercedes-Benz - the same folks that will happily sell you a Sprinter van - had the deal gone through. Issues arose, though, first with the engines. Mercedes wanted a wider range of powertrains to allow it to tune models for specific markets, while Nissan said it couldn't engineer the wide variety of engines that MB wanted to drop under the hood. For the smaller truck, meanwhile, MB was interested in a hybrid or plug-in variant, according to R&T, although this was also shot down by Nissan.
