2007 MERCEDES BENZ C280 4MATIC!

Water/Flood damaged.
No insurance claim since I only had liability so title is still clear.

Here's what happened:

The road was slightly flooded and I didn't realize how deep it was. I attempted to cross over it got halfway through it and the car stalled out. I crawled out and the water was about shin deep. With the help of a couple of truckers that were behind me we were able to push the car back to dry land. The car got approximately 2-3" of water in the cabin. There was oil coming out as we were pushing it back and we're not sure if it flooded the engine or cracked the engine block and that is what caused it.  After sitting for approximately 45 mins the car fired up for approximately 30 seconds then died.  We had it towed. Oil was still leaking out of it. The car was stuck in park but we were able to get it back into neutral. Then put it back into park.

This is what I know:
  • There was approximately 2-3 inches of water in the cabin.
  • It was leaking oil when I got it back to my house.
  • The Transmission fluid was clean.
  • The Air Filter was dry (somebody asked me this, not sure of the relevance but thought I would include)
  • The radio is working, however the seat, sunroof, window controls are not working.
  • When I put the key in the ignition it says : SRS Restraint System Malfunction Visit Workshop
  • It will shift into the gears when I put the key into the second position but sometimes I have to try it a couple of times.
  • The body of the car is in excellent condition except for a small ding on the front drivers side quarter panel.
  • The interior of the car is in very good condition, no tears or holes in the leather.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I will answer.

This car MUST be picked up. I will not deliver.

$200 deposit required within 48 hours of auction close.
Balance at or before pick-up.

New Mercedes Unimog debuts to the cheers of little boys everywhere [w/video]

Sat, 27 Apr 2013

The Mercedes Unimog, the superhero villain of the off-road world that's just waiting to make the jump to Transformer, has been completely upgraded for its new generation. There are ten models, expanding the range and getting new designations across the traditional all-terrain series and the implement-carrier series. Panoramic cabins get more visibility, multifunction steering wheels and better dash clusters, improved HVAC and a three-mode central tire inflation system. Outside, there are new items like LED headlights and daytime running lamps in the bumper, roof-mounted windshield wipers and a front-camera monitor for the implement carrier.
The new engine lineup is compliant with Euro VI, featuring four- and six-cylinder BlueEfficiency engines putting out anywhere from 156 horsepower to 354 hp. Powerplant placement has also been tweaked, the chassis members getting a revised curve to place the engine a bit further back and lower, maintaining off-road clearance and lowering the Unimog's center of gravity. The new location of the engine means the cabin has more room, and the wheelbase is shorter. Combined with a higher turning angle, the Unimog has a smaller turning radius than before.
The implement carrier gets what's called a "synergistic traveling drive," the bonus being that drivers don't need to stop in order to use an attachment - a hydrostatic transmission works with the regular manual transmission at up to 31 kilometers per hour for seamless switching.

Boston bombers were tracked using Mercedes mbrace [w/video]

Sun, 28 Apr 2013

We now know Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the two brothers said to be behind the Boston Marathon bombings, planned to head for New York City to detonate more improvised explosive devices. As it turns out, that plan was foiled by the quick thinking of one Mercedes-Benz owner, diligent police work and the Mercedes-Benz mbrace system. When the brothers carjacked a 26-year-old Chinese entrepreneur identified only as "Danny," they didn't realize his Mercedes-Benz M-Class was equipped with the mbrace system, which can call for help in the event of an accident or track the vehicle in the event of a theft.
According to reports, the Tsarnaev brothers held Danny hostage for nearly 90 minutes while they drove around Boston forming a plan until they had to stop for fuel. When one of the brothers went inside to pay, the other put his gun down for a moment. Danny took the opportunity to unlatch his seat belt, open the door and run to another nearby gas station, where he told the owner to call the police.
When police arrived, they used the mbrace system to track the SUV after receiving Danny's permission, and it wasn't long before a shootout between police and the brothers ensued. When it was over, the eldest brother lay dead in the street. For more on the story, view the video report available below.

Mercedes considering GLA-based crossover coupe

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

BMW opened a whole Pandora's Box when it introduced the X6 back in 2008. Sure it made little sense, sacrificing all that "utility" for a little more "sport," but it's been a solid success for BMW - especially considering the nominal expense it cost to develop the X6 on top of the X5 on which it's based. Little wonder that, while BMW has already followed up with a smaller version in the form of the X4, other automakers are starting to catch up. And that includes Mercedes-Benz.
The German automaker is preparing to launch a new MLC, based on the M-Class but with a sportier silhouette, and previewed it with the Concept Coupe SUV at the Beijing Motor Show. But that's just the start, according to the latest report from Automotive News Europe.
Mercedes is reportedly considering spinning off an entire line of crossovers more for use on the road than off it. Which may go without saying for most crossovers on the market, but considering the Geländwagen with which Mercedes got its start in SUVs, would mean an even further departure than it has undertaken already.
