Up for sale is my 1976 Mercedes 300 Diesel (115 body style E Class).

I bought this car as a daily driver with the intension of restoring it.  As tends to be the case I am way to busy, travel to much and do nnot have the time this car deserves.

Increasingly hard to find the 300 Diesel was the fisrt ever 5 cylinder diesel engine in the world which Mercedes later added a Turbo for the 116, 126  and 123 series cars.

Even harder to find are ones with a sun roof and this has one and it works.

I love this car and were it not for my busy schedule would never sell it.

Everything in the car works however the aircondtioning (it will work and both heater and air conditioning fans work) needs a recharge and the central locking does not hold its vacuum.

The car needs new window seal front and rear (I have these new and are included in the sale).

The car is rock solid with very (and I mean VERY minimal surface rust).

I have a bunch of spares for the car which, if the full selling price of $3800) is achieved I will include:

Front and rear chassis mounts, Hirschman Electric Antenna (Standard manual Hirschman is fitted). Sun roof felt seals (Very hard to find), replacement windscreen wiper rubbers (original Mercedes Benz) Spare front and rear windows, 4 spare doors with electric windows, trunk seal, electric windo wiring harness complete with switches, relays and fuses, chrome trim for a complete car, complete differential and drive shafts (correct ratio), original Becker Radio (working), seats, seat covers, head rests and way much more.

The car drives and srtarts great with a fully working glow plug system and shuts of on the key as it should.  Gearbox is great, does not slip and changes up and down as it should.

The electric windows, sun roof and central locking works as does the power steering, brakes and parking brake.

The only negative in this car is that it has a dent in the rear left quarter.  A relatively simple body and paint.

The car has new tires including the spare and has 4 original color coded hub caps.

User hand book and tools along with vehicle jack and 1 gal reserve can of fuel are included.

The car has a clean title and is declared non op but has a fully charged battery and can be driven away.

I would hope this car finds a good home and will live for another 40 years.

The engine, chassis, transmission, brakes are strong, gets great gas mileage (around 22 in town) and would be a great car for anyone.

Please bid with confidence and bid responsible.

Please do no expect a perfect car but I have described the car fully.  This car is 37 years old.  Great ones sell for $8000, really good sell for $15000 and I have seen many a pos advertized for way more than this one.  This car is goodand is easily a daily user with reliability and logevity.

The car is offered sale else where and I reserve the right to end the auction early. If you want to own this car you do need to bid to win.

2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA priced from $31,300*

Mon, 28 Jul 2014

Mercedes-Benz has kindly let loose the price of the 2015 GLA-Class, telling Autoblog.com that the base 208-horsepower GLA250 in two-wheel drive will go for $31,300 *not including a destination charge of $925. That makes for $32,225 in total to get one off the lot, a price predicted as early as last year and in our recent First Drive. The other two available models can push power to all four wheels, and after the destination fee is applied the GLA240 4Matic (pictured) will be $34,225 while the 355-horsepower GLA45 AMG will change lives and wallets to the tune of $49,225.
On the base scale, that puts the GLA250 just a few hundred dollar bills above the more powerful, rear-wheel drive BMW X1 and a stack of hundreds below the less powerful, front-wheel drive Audi Q3. If you're keeping in-house score, the GLA250 comes in at $1,400 above its sedan platform-mate with the same engine, the CLA250. At the high end, however, the competition doesn't have anything that can touch the AMG trim. Not that it should matter all that much - Mercedes needed something to keep these buyers in the family, and now they have it. If any of them should need even more power and more money spent, then there's always that 394-hp Brabus flavor. We'll have more info and details on each trim when Mercedes unleashes the shebang in the not-too-distant future.

Mercedes takes VW Westfalia Camper idea upscale with new Marco Polo

Wed, 09 Jul 2014

Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz revealed the new V-Class. Slotting in below the popular Sprinter, the new V-Class replaced both the Viano and Vito upon its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. But Mercedes isn't quite done with it just yet. At the upcoming Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Germany, Mercedes will reveal the Marco Polo - a versatile, stylish and decidedly contemporary take on the classic camper van.
Named after the famous Italian explorer, the Marco Polo was converted by Westfalia, an outfit which you might more closely associate with classic VW camper vans but which Daimler absorbed over a decade ago. Offering, according to the press release below, "a maximum of opportunities to be independent, free and spontaneous," the Marco Polo sleeps four thanks to the rear bench that electrically folds flat into a bed and the second berth under the pop-top. The flexible interior is decked out like you'd expect a modern Mercedes to be, with ambient LED lighting as well as wood, metal and piano black trim.
It's got an onboard kitchenette with two gas burners, a sink and fridge with a 10 gallons of fresh water and an even bigger waste tank. All that gear is shlepped around by a choice of four-cylinder turbodiesel engines ranging in output from 136 to 190 horsepower. The relatively compact form boasts a turning circle similar to a full-size sedan and a height designed to fit into most garages and car washes. All of which just might make us reconsider the appeal of traveling by camper van.

Race Recap: Singapore Grand Prix is about a safety car and submission

Mon, 23 Sep 2013

The Singapore Formula One Grand Prix is the Monaco GP of the Orient - a weekend known more for its glamour and time-slot than on-track action, with a temporary circuit that punishes every mistake, usually terminally.
Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas got the best of Free Practice 1, opening the curtain on a possible resurgence of Silver Arrows performance. By the time qualifying was done, though, it was his teammate Nico Rosberg who lined up second on the grid, followed by Romain Grosjean with a beautiful performance in the Lotus, Mark Webber in the Infiniti Red Bull, and Hamilton all the way back in fifth. Behind them were Felipe Massa outqualifying Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button getting the McLaren into eighth, Daniel Ricciardo with another good Q3 effort to get into ninth, and the shocker of Esteban Gutiérrez getting his Sauber into the top ten for the first time this year.
At the front of the pack was Sebastian Vettel. Again. But he was only ahead of Rosberg by a single tenth of a second...
