Up for auction is my 1998 Mercedes Benz E300 turbo diesel. The automobile is in overall nice shape for a fifteen year old car. The mileage is just under 126k, so not bad for year or for these type of vehicle. These cars, i have been told drive for 300-600 thousand miles. I have been having some problems with the car when i start it up in the morning. It runs a little rough, and I get some white smoke from unburnt fuel. I was told by a local shop that the glow plug on cylinder 6 was not working. He said it could be other things as well, such as injectors or the fuel system. At any rate the cost of diagnosing this was as much as i hoped a repair would be. I am not in a position to have it fixed, so I am hoping to pass it on to someone who can give it the attention it deserves.
Once the car has warmed up the smoke goes away and it drives smooth with full power. The car drives and handles very well. The other things the car needs is a/c to be charged and a longer oil plug bolt installed (included).
The interior is really nice on this car! Seats are black leather with no tears or damage. The dash has two small cracks up towards the upper vents, not very noticeable. The headliner is sagging a little in the back. There is a dash cover on it now to protect it from the Florida sun. The glass is all nice, there is one tiny chip on the front windshield.
The exterior is pretty nice for it's age as well. Looks to be the original paint. There is a nickle sized dent and scratch on the driver fender. Paint is faded on the front bumper and a spot above the drivers door. The wheels are ok. Painted black and need tires and 1 center cap.
This car is a running and driving project for a knowledgeable enthusiast.
This car is being auctioned as-is with no implied warranty.

Mercedes dealers authorized to spend $2,500 on perks for S-Class customers

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

If you drop $100,000 on a luxury sedan, it seems only reasonable to receive some preferential treatment at the dealership you purchased from. After all, that price isn't just for the car - you're paying for the brand and all the cachet that entails. For Mercedes-Benz, those benefits have apparently been lacking relative to the German brand's luxury competitors.
That's set to change, though, as Automotive News reports that the German brand is placing a much greater emphasis on keeping its customers happy and loyal with its MB Select program. Starting with the new S-Class and spreading to the CLA-Class (and eventually beyond), dealers are being given money - up to $2,500 in the case of the flagship sedan - just to improve the customer experience.
We agree, improving the "customer experience" is quite a vague term, so it's nice that Mercedes USA's CEO, Steve Cannon, offered up some examples to AN at the LA Auto Show. For example, a customer couldn't fit his sunglasses into the overhead compartment. "So we bought him a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses that fit because of their shape," Cannon said.

Mercedes-Benz CLA stars in sweeping short with supermodel Karlie Kloss

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

The Mercedes-Benz CLA earned itself a spot on our list of the top five unveils of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and for good reason. The German luxury compact is the first small car from the Silver Arrow that looks suitably premium inside and out. Nowness.com has turned out a new video of the CLA featuring super model Karlie Koss in the lead role. We aren't entirely sure what the premise is, but from what we can tell, it looks as if the CLA comes to life and proceeds to be a giant jerk.
After Koss stops to take a closer look at a white horse, the CLA gives the supermodel the old stop-and-go treatment before leaving her on the side of the road. Eventually, the sedan makes nice, but Koss has to ride shotgun instead of taking the controls herself. You can check out the video below to see for yourself.

Mercedes S-Class Magic Body Control ad is clucking awesome

Tue, 24 Sep 2013

This is a new ad from Mercedes-Benz. At no point does it show an automobile. Instead, it stars animals, but not the sort you might normally see in car commercial. This ad is all about chickens. It is bizarre, to say the least, with Diana Ross and the Supremes belting it out in the background, but it all kind of comes together when you realize just what Mercedes is hawking (yeah, pun intended).
It's for the manufacturer's Magic Body Control, found on the new S-Class. The system basically analyzes the road and prepares the suspension accordingly, leading to a ride that is, in the words of our own Chris Paukert "nothing short of spooky." You can read about it in our full review of the 2014 S550. Take a look below for the 53-second spot.
