Vehicle is in overall great condition. The interior is almost like new. Black on Black. The Black paint really shines when clean. Couple of things, there is some light scratching on the drivers side from the front fender to the rear door. May come out with a good wet sand or a buff, not sure. There is a dent below the the drivers sideview mirror. The front sway bar is cracked but can be fixed, I believe the OEM part is $300. The positive is that the interior is great, the car drives very smooth as it should, and all electronics work etc. When I bought the car I brought it to Mercedes and had them look at the whole car as if they were going to "certify it" Whatever they said to replace I did. The car is in great mechanical condition for a car of its age. I am not a mechanic but for those who have worked on the car that is what they have said. New rear shocks, springs. New vented rotors around the whole car and new brakes. The car has had an upgraded AMG bumber added with AMG grill. While the bumper was off I decided to put in new headlight assembly's which makes the car look new. Also there are 19' rims with light road rash on them, can't be seen from far away. New tires. Stock rims and tires come with car. The car has a Synthetic oil change every 4000-5000 miles. Given its age I add a gallon of oil in between changes. This is a great value given the car new goes for around $60,000. I would keep it, but my family is getting bigger and I need more space. Please contact me with any questions. I have most of all the reciepts. |

Mercedes testing C-Class plug-in hybrid modes in Germany
Wed, 07 May 2014Testing appears to be underway for what would be the first Mercedes-Benz C-Class with a hybrid powertrain. We can see a pair of the prototypes undergoing testing in Germany, with one, a C-Class Wagon, still heavily clad in camouflage and featuring a more noticeable outlet on the passenger side of its rear bumper.
There's also a more production-looking sedan, which features a not-so-discreet flap over its rear-bumper outlet. It's difficult to speculate on power outputs for this fuel-sipping C-Class, although our spies seem to think that this car will feature some combination of a four-cylinder gas engine with an electric motor, although just which four is unclear (note, we wouldn't mind if MB fit its 2.0-liter turbo with some batteries and motors). Regardless, the four-pot/electric motor seems like a pretty reasonable combo, although it probably means that Mercedes won't be challenging the six-cylinder-powered system of the BMW ActiveHybrid3 any time soon.
When the plug-in C-Class arrives later this year as a 2015 model, it will likely offer a full range of driving modes, including both gas or electric, only, as well as a more traditional hybrid mode.
Clark Gable's 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing doesn't sell, then does sell for $1.85 million [UPDATE: w/video]
Sat, 19 Jan 2013How much extra value does previous celebrity ownership add to of a car? Really, there's no way to know until the car in question hits the auction block and bidders start raising their hands. In the case of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing you see above, the celebrity owner is none other than Clark Gable, who purchased it new. After Gable's death in 1960, the car changed hands a few times before settling with Charles Wood in 1975.
A high-dollar restoration was performed in 1989, and period accessories added by Gable himself were kept in place, including the Rudge knock-off wheels and Nardi steering wheel. Any Mercedes-Benz 300SL is worth a big chunk of money. In the case of Clark Gable's old Gullwing, the bidding stalled at $1.9 million here at the 2013 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale. As one of the 5000-series cars, this 300SL carried a reserve, and a bit of after-the-fact dealmaking saw the car change hands for $1.85 million.
You can see our high-res image gallery above, and the car's official auction description below.
Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG spied in Sweden
Wed, 16 Jan 2013We've spotted the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLA testing a couple times in recent months in getting closer to production form and shedding camouflage, but now it looks like we're see our first look at the AMG version of this compact crossover. The low ride height might trick some into thinking that we're just seeing the already-confirmed A45 AMG out testing, but the unique beltline, rear doors and side windows confirm this is some version of the GLA-Class.
What makes us so confident that this is the AMG model? Well, for starters, this prototype has beefier brakes with cross-drilled front and rear rotors and bigger front calipers, but it also sports dual exhaust outlets poking through the rear fascia and a suspension that has been lowered considerably. Our spy shooters said that this car's exhaust note made it almost certainly an AMG model.
Just to be clear, the GLA AMG will not be powered by a 4.5-liter engine. The closely related A45 AMG will carry the "45" in its name to celebrate the first 45 years of AMG, and our sources seem to indicate the AMG version of the GLA will do the same. We're expecting this sporty crossover to produce as much as 350 horsepower from its AMG-tuned four-cylinder engine, and like the all-new E63 AMG, it could very well come standard with 4Matic all-wheel drive.
