I would like to present to you, the Gelandewagen aka the G-Wagon, or specifically for this model, a G500. It is the first year of the G-Class in the U.S. This is the base model which under the hood has a V8 5.0L engine, with 292 horsepower, also the gas tank is 25.4 gallons I believe, also the gas mileage is 12 city and 14 highway. Rear seat warmers. 3 Differential Locks. Brush guard. sun roof. leather. cargo mat. running boards. Dual air bags. Dual power seats. Air Conditioning. Power Windows. Power Door Locks. Cruise Control. Premium Sound. Navigation System. AWD. 4x4. Power Steering. Privacy glass. Tilt Wheel. AM/FM Stereo. CD (Multi Disc). Alloy Wheels. Registration valid till september. Smog will be ready. Possibly transfer my warranty to the next owner if the warranty company allows (Assume that there is non just in case). Under my ownership I have made sure that this monster of an SUV which is more like a truck, is perfectly functional and has been through its maintenance cycles regularly. Two almost new tires. I have all maintenance paper work from the last owner who bought the car used at Mercedes Benz of Rocklin and including all of mine from the dealership. The last owner was a women so it has been given to me in good condition and I have continued to do so. The car was never been abused, never driven off road, and never been in snow. The car has been kept clean and dry for the age and mileage which the mileage is considered to be low for a 12 year old car. I have received many compliments about the nice appearance it still holds. For anyone driving this car you will turn heads left and right. However if you have never owned a G-Class I highly recommend you educate yourself and research this car so that there is no surprises when viewing it or test driving.

If you are buying from somewhere close by, I recommend driving out to see this car in person, or if you live far away I still recommend doing the same thing, I would be more than delighted to pick up and drop off at a local airport or if you wish to send out someone to inspect the car, feel free to do so, this way there is no room for error. I also want it to be known that I may close the auction early or abruptly if  I sell to someone outside of ebay.

Thank you,

Clark Gable's 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing doesn't sell, then does sell for $1.85 million [UPDATE: w/video]

Sat, 19 Jan 2013

How much extra value does previous celebrity ownership add to of a car? Really, there's no way to know until the car in question hits the auction block and bidders start raising their hands. In the case of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing you see above, the celebrity owner is none other than Clark Gable, who purchased it new. After Gable's death in 1960, the car changed hands a few times before settling with Charles Wood in 1975.
A high-dollar restoration was performed in 1989, and period accessories added by Gable himself were kept in place, including the Rudge knock-off wheels and Nardi steering wheel. Any Mercedes-Benz 300SL is worth a big chunk of money. In the case of Clark Gable's old Gullwing, the bidding stalled at $1.9 million here at the 2013 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale. As one of the 5000-series cars, this 300SL carried a reserve, and a bit of after-the-fact dealmaking saw the car change hands for $1.85 million.
You can see our high-res image gallery above, and the car's official auction description below.

Consumer Reports selling its road-tested roadsters [w/video]

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

Here's a chance to acquire a celebrity-owned vehicles, and this time at a discount instead of a premium. So the celebrity in this case is Consumer Reports, that magazine that could be equally adored and abhored by car enthusiasts. CR buys all of its test vehicles and usually finds willing second owners within its own ranks, but its opening its small used-car lot to the public. On the forecourt are four roadsters: an automatic 2012 Audi TT 2.0 TFSI Quattro S-Tronic with 6,600 miles for $36,500, a manual 2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i with 8,400 miles for $45,000, a manual 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK250 for $39,500 and a manual 2013 Porsche Boxster with 7,000 miles for $48,000.
Those numbers mean a savings of $9,000 to $10,000 before haggling - each car is listed with an "Asking price" so there could be some wiggle room if you show up with pockets full of dough and eyes full of serious intent. Since the money CR earns from the sales go back into the magazine's budget to buy more test cars, however, it probably won't take any oddball trades, so you can forget about getting any purchasing help from that track-day AMC Javelin project on blocks in the back yard.
The vehicles have been taken care of and spiffed up for sale; buyers will take delivery at the CR test track in East Haddam, Connecticut and get a tour of the facilities. While you're there they'll even take you on a lap around the track so you can feel how your car handles when driven by one of its testers. They will probably not help you with advice on which toaster and dehumidifier to buy - you'll still need to get a subscription for that. Have a look at the video below to see a day in the life of a CR test car.

Porsche teams with Delta airlines to woo VIP passengers

Sun, 15 Sep 2013

The next time you're waiting for a flight at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, see if you can spot a Porsche Cayenne or Panamera zipping between aircraft on the busy tarmac. The high-performance German vehicles aren't there practicing for an upcoming autocross; they are tasked with whisking some of the airline's most important customers between flights so they can keep their busy schedules intact.
Launched nearly two years ago, the program has proven popular with the automaker, airline and passengers as all benefit from the unique arrangement. Atlanta-based Porsche is able to showcase its cars to Delta's frequent-flying Medallion members, the airline is recognized for providing unusual perks to its high-value customers and those fortunate enough to be surprised with a quick lift are able to make connections without a stressful run through the terminal. Based on its success, the airline is rolling our similar programs in New York, Los Angeles and Minneapolis this month.
And don't think Porsche is the only automaker working with an airline to entice its frequent flyers. Mercedes-Benz ran a program over the summer that offered purchasing and leasing incentives to MileagePlus Premier members of United Airlines, and the two are currently shuttling top fliers around Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport in the automaker's S-Class and GL-Class models.
