The condition of the exterior, interior and engine can vary depending on the vehicle's history. See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections. ...

Recent maintenance: brake rotors and pads, new shocks, front and rear bearings, transmission filter and flush, 2 new catalytic converters, new exhaust pipe system (from catalytic converters back), oxygen sensors, crank position sensors (they wear out around 70K miles), serpentine belt, all exterior and dash instrument lights replaced, new plugs, wires, air filter, new cabin air filter, oil change, battery 1 year old.  Included with the sale is fitted car cover, inexpensive seat covers, and various spare trim pieces for interior and exterior.

Issues:  Convertible top latch is not functioning so top can not currently be put down.  The problem is the small hydraulic cylinder which moves the latch.  The seals in this cylinder need replacing.  I have the headliner removed and have the replacement instructions and kit.  The seal kit includes seals for all hydraulic cylinders on the car plus a syringe and hose to replenish the hydraulic fluid reservoir.  Labor to replace the seals in this one cylinder is about a 2-3 hour job by someone with mechanical skills and tools.  The headliner was professionally recovered and ready to reinstall.  The interior dome light does not come on when a door opens.  It does light when the overhead switch is pressed.  The trunk CD player has been removed.  The radio is fine, but I have a new radio/CD/Bluetooth unit that will fit in exactly the same space.  It also looks nearly identical to the OEM radio.  This will be included but buyer will need to install.  There are a few minor chips and dings that aren't visible unless examined up close.  The front air dam has scratches (see photo) from people rubbing parking space blocks, but easily covered with nearly any black paint.  The glove box has scratches from a previous owner (see photo).  I think they must have carried items in the front seat that rubbed up against it or possibly a child.

I drive this car nearly every day and have taken it on several long trips without any issues.  This is a great car that I was slowly bringing back to like new condition.  People love to compliment the car and will occasionally want to race you (hint you will probably win, but don't race because it's dangerous!).  I love having this car and it drives like a dream.  When you need to accelerate it is quick and silky smooth with a great sound.  I am selling it because I was recently laid off from my job by a boss that wanted everyone to be as miserable as him.  That's it and otherwise I would keep it.  Now I am selling this car and will soon be selling my other toys so I can travel more lightly to my next career, whatever that might be.

IMPORTANT:  Please ask any and all questions you want.  I am not going to try to sell you this car and I am an honest guy.  I will post all questions and answers.  You are welcome to test drive it.  Buyer must provide $500 deposit using PayPal within 48 hours or car will be put back up for auction.  Payment can only be in the form of cash, PayPal, or cashier check from a verifiable bank.  Buyer mush also provide name, address, and matching phone number before final payment.  Buyer is responsible for pick up or shipping of the car.  Car must fully paid for and picked up within 2 weeks of end of auction. Failure to pay or pick up after two weeks will result in refund of deposit and car will be put back up for auction.

Daimler names Bernd Pischetsrieder to supervisory board

Mon, 14 Apr 2014

Some executives in the automotive industry stay with one company for their entire careers, while others bounce from one to the other, often leaving their indelible mark on each automaker at which they serve. Bob Lutz is certainly an example of the latter. So is Lee Iacocca, having presided over Ford and later charing the Chrysler board. Carlos Tavares was chief operating officer of Renault before being nominated as chief executive at PSA Peugeot Citroën. But as far as the Germans go, nobody's jumped from the leadership of one automaker to the next quite like Bernd Pischetsrieder - especially now that he's been named to the supervisory board of Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler.
An engineer by training, Pischetsrieder started his career at BMW in 1973, eventually rising to the office of CEO after twenty years. There he remained until 1999, only to be dismissed after orchestrating BMW's takeover of the Rover Group (of which only the Mini brand remains in the company's portfolio, the other brands having been sold off after his dismissal).
The next year he was named chairman of Volkswagen's Seat brand, and rose to the chairmanship of the entire Volkswagen Group two years later. Despite a largely successful four-year tenure (that gave birth, incidentally, to the Bugatti Veyron), disagreements with supervisory board chairman Ferdinand Piëch saw him leave the helm at VW AG, focusing his attention on the Scania truck division. He's since been touted as a potential chief executive for Opel and for Continental, but neither potential was apparently realized.

Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept gets mobbed in China

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

If the reception it received at the Shanghai Motor Show is any judge of marketplace acceptance, Mercedes-Benz has a hit on its hands in the form of the GLA Concept. And we can understand why - we're quickly becoming fans of Mercedes' recent styling language, as defined by new models like the CLA and this GLA Concept.
The big news on the exterior front are the headlamp clusters, which have frickin' laser beams attached to their foreheads embedded inside that are capable of projecting videos and images on a screen. Plus, a pair of video cameras are mounted on the roof that can be used to capture driving excitement or removed and taken with you. How cool is that? We just hope they have a substantial locking mechanism to prevent would-be thievery...
If the exterior is mostly ready for production, with a few of the more outlandish elements moved to the trash bin - like, for instance, laser-beam headlamps and removable action cams - the interior is a true custom job that screams concept loud and clear. There are all kinds of jewel-like finishes inside, along with transparent surfaces showing what looks like metal latticework underneath and some awfully thick looking leather with massive exterior stitching done by hand similar to what you'd find on a baseball glove.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class spied once again

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

As evidenced by how little camouflage the next-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been caught wearing lately, it can't be too much longer until the car will get its official debut. In our newest shots of the yacht-sized luxo sedan, the cladding still covers up the headlights, front fascia and most of the rear end, but we finally have an almost undisguised look at the rest of the car's lines.
Considering previous spy shots had more camo that better (or fully) concealed the S-Class' body, some of the more obvious things we see in these images include the prominent grille, the CLS-Class-inspired bodyside creases, the pointed trunk opening and, most interestingly, a lack of fancy exhaust outlets. Unlike other S-Class prototypes we've seen, this car does not have integrated outlets, but it does have two pipes on the left side of the car. All current S-Class models in the US and Europe feature a dual exhaust layout on each side of the car, so while some of our questions about the car get answered, it would appear that more are just arising.
