My 1983 280ZX is up for sale. I have owned this vehicle for 25 of its 31 year age and found it to be a truly amazing car. I have never touched the engine besides changing oil, alternator, radiator, water pump, and battery. It does not burn any oil and has lots of life left. The body is straight and paint still looks great. It was professionally repainted about 20 years ago. Never driven in winters since I have had it and always garaged.

There are minor issues but it can be driven away without a problem. Here's the list of issues:
  • Oil pump is weak (still the original one) but still has oil pressure. I will include a new oil pump and gasket.
  • Ignition switch is worn so it takes some "jiggling" to get it started. Worn ignition switches are a known issue with these cars.
  • Right front fender has a little scrape that can be easily smoothed out and repainted. Very superficial.
  • Rack and pinion leaks but has been holding oil since I put stop leak in it. Steering is hard but not too bad.
  • Driver side rocker panel below door has some rot which is easily repairable.
  • Floorpans are rusted, the driver side being worse than the passenger side.
  • Seats are cracked and need to be replaced or refurbished.
  • Left front tire has a slow leak which must be the bead or valve. Been that way for years.
  • There's a water leak on the driver side, presumably from the windshield that was replaced about 20 years ago due to a crack. Never took the time to find the source because I don't drive it in the rain.
  • The car has been sitting for about one year but has been started every 2-3 weeks. Battery has a maintenance charger attached to it.
My fixed price is very reasonable given the scarcity and popularity of these cars. They will only appreciate with age. I have the vehicle for sale locally so act fast before it's gone!

Meet Sparky, Nissan's Leaf-based, Frontier-bedded EV parts hauler [w/video]

Thu, 18 Sep 2014

For many enthusiasts, the concept of the ute - a car with a pickup bed - is somehow irresistibly appealing. On paper, it promises the marriage of a truck's utility and a car's superior driving dynamics, and for that reason alone, we'd love to see more of them. Yet while other parts of the world get them in good numbers, North America doesn't ever see them - at least not for long. Based on what we've seen of late, though, that's not due to a lack of motivation on the part of engineers.
BMW wowed us several years ago with an M3 ute, and earlier this year, some interns converted a Mini Paceman into the pickup-bodied Paceman Adventure. Loathe to let their rivals in Munich and Oxford have all the fun, Nissan has built its very own car-based pickup. Meet Sparky, the world's first Leaf Frontier.
Like the M3, this all-electric ute is used as a parts hauler for Nissan's engineering teams at its sprawling Stanfield, AZ tech center and proving grounds.

Nissan Juke facelift spied during testing

Mon, 03 Feb 2014

The Nissan Juke boldly reinvented the subcompact crossover for the modern age a decade after the niche's progenitors - the first-generation Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V - grew well beyond their original, diminutive sizes. Since being introduced in 2010 as a 2011 model, the Juke has proven to be a huge sales success for Nissan in Europe and quite a success here, too. A modest refresh is planned for the 2015 model year of Nissan's tiniest crossover, and our spy shooters have caught an early glimpse.
The exact changes are not easy to spot, but you can bet that anywhere you see camouflage, a modestly new look is hidden underneath. The biggest change up front is the narrower grille that appears to no longer extend over the headlights. Assuming this isn't just a clever disguise, the change gives the impression that the Juke actually has distinct headlights, instead of massive fog lights. The more angular front air dam also appears to extend slightly lower than before, and the intakes appear to be revised as well.
The changes to the rear are even more minor. You can still see the outlines of the boomerang-shaped headlights, and any alterations to the rear bumper are impossible to spot behind the camouflage tape. It's also unclear at this point whether the interior will receive any refinements or new options.

Nissan recalling 104k Juke models over faulty timing chain [UPDATE]

Thu, 15 May 2014

General Motors isn't the only manufacturer that gets to issue a recall today, as Nissan is set to announce a voluntary recall of the 2011 to 2013 Juke due to a fault with the timing chain. 104,439 units are affected by this recall. The timing chain in some Jukes could deteriorate over time, leading to a warning light in the instrument cluster. In extreme cases, the chain could snap.
Owners of affected vehicles are being notified, and will need to report to their local dealership. The free repairs will replace the timing chain, chain guides and crank sprocket.
Take a look below for a short statement to Autoblog from Nissan.
