2001 Nissan Pathfinder on 2040-cars

Year:2001 Mileage:156712 Color: paint still shines
Location:

Commerce City, Colorado, United States

Commerce City, Colorado, United States

My wife and I acquired a new SUV for the year and needed to get rid of our old one. We have in good condition a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder. I will do my best to describe everything I know about this vehicle to the best of my knowledge. I am a part time mechanic and I have done all maintenance on this vehicle personally.
Mileage is mostly highway and still runs great. Mileage will change because vehicle is still in use. Front wheel bearings, brakes, ignition coil boots, spark plugs O2 sensors(all 4) and fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator are all new as of the beginning of this current year(2013) I have the rear brake shoes but not installed, will include with purchase if I can't get to them.
New tires that have less than 3000 miles on them.
Small oil leak from oil cooler which I will take care of before new owner takes this.
A few minor issues---
Passenger side turn light has a crack in it but I have another I can put on(see photos)
Low pressure a/c line has leak which will need replaced eventually, still blows cold as for now.
A MIL light has been on for years and the code states the "catalyst is below efficiency" which has not been an issue passing any emissions tests. We got a emissions done this October with no issues. I did, however purchase aftermarket lower catalytic converters which have not been put on yet but if seller desires me to I will put them on for an additional $50. If not then I will still include them with the sale and new owner will be able to do them.
The transmission works but there recently has been a little "buck" from 1st to 2nd when its cold start up, it may be a throttle position adjustment issue which I will look into also. Just a heads up just in case though.
The front bumper has a minor blemish from a car hit and run but did not dent it. The driver's side mirror has a chunk out of it from a parking garage door but still works perfectly.
Out Husky thought it was a good idea to hide food in the back seat from us so there is a small tear in the driver's side rear seat, about 5in in length and could be taken somewhere and patched.(see photos)
The CD changer does not function and never had worked when we bought this vehicle but the radio and cassette player work fine. We use out ipod with the cassette player through the radio when listening to music.
The good---
Everything power works, front seats, rear entertainment(VHS tape), windows(rear ones are a little slow when cold) sun roof, etc, etc,
Engine runs strong with no known issues.
This has a part time transfer case which will allow this vehicle to have the driving options of 2WD, AWD, 4LOCK, 4LOW all of which work well.
Installed a K&N air filter inside air box.
We get anywhere from 14-15mpg in the city and 17-19mpg highway which isn't terrible by today's standards.
Exterior paint still shines, however there are a few door dings from parking lots.
Has a hitch receiver for towing, has a little rust on the receiver.
Overall this has been a great vehicle and had no issues with this from the years we have owned this. My wife bought this back on 2007 I believe with around 75,000 on it at the time. We own mountain property here in Colorado and use this during the winter and has done wonders in the snow.
I only have the one transmitter and chip key for the vehicle.
I have most of the receipts for the parts I have put on and will include this will the title when it sells. The title is clean and clear. If you have any questions, please ask. Thank you for looking and have a nice day.

Nissan Xterra's fate hangs in the balance

Sat, 21 Sep 2013

The Nissan Xterra might not be long for this world, according to a report from Edmunds. The rugged SUV, which has always been a bit more of a hardcore, purpose-built vehicle than the rest of the Nissan SUV range. But it has also suffered from slowing sales, low fuel economy relative to the competition and general neglect, as Nissan has focused on other offerings in its range.
"There are plans to replace it, there are always plans, (but) I am not sure it will happen. I would say in the next six months to a year," Pierre Loing, vice president of product planning for Nissan Americas told Edmunds. Part of the problem, he added, was that the Xterra is a US-only vehicle, which makes it a hard sell in a world where automakers are increasingly depending on global cars.
Besides the economic forces working against the Xterra, it's just a vehicle that hasn't been a huge sales success of late. Customers are more conscious of fuel economy and a body-on-frame SUV that only nets 16 miles per gallon just isn't good enough; arguably why Nissan barely sold 17,000 units last year. We can hold out hope, as the Xterra remains a fun off-roader that we'd hate to see go, but unless Nissan finds a business case or some global partners, this is a vehicle that is on its last leg.

Nissan: We lose money on each Leaf replacement battery

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

Nissan has been playing its cards pretty close to its chest when it comes to the production costs for Leaf battery packs. The company recently put a price on replacement batteries for customers at $5,500 plus the requirement to return the old battery. If the decommissioned battery is worth $1,000 to Nissan, as they have stated, that means the battery costs about $6,500 to make, right? Maybe even less if Nissan wants to turn a profit, as automakers are wont to do? Wrong.
Green Car Reports spoke to Nissan about these battery costs, and found that the automaker actually loses money on selling the replacement battery for the Leaf at the current price. Jeff Kuhlman, Nissan's vice president of global communications said, "Nissan makes zero margin on the replacement program. In fact, we subvent every exchange." All you English majors will know that "subvent" is a fancy way to say "subsidize." Kuhlman added, though, "We have yet to sell one battery as part of the program."
The fact that Nissan offers its replacement batteries for less than it costs to manufacture them is telling of a company both cares about what its customer needs and is dedicated to the success of its product. In this case, both of those things encourage people to give up fossil fuels and adopt electric mobility, which is heartening. As more people switch to battery-powered driving, though, battery technology should become better and cheaper, and the scale of production should cause manufacturing costs to decrease. Eventually, Nissan could easily see itself breaking even selling the Leaf battery replacements.

Nissan's Dacia Duster-based Terrano revealed

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

The new Nissan Terrano has appeared in production form after an apparent August 20 launch in India, but the small sport utility vehicle remains sadly aloof from the US market. We've had our eyes on the Terrano ever since we learned it would be produced as an upscale alternative to the Dacia Duster on which it's based, but currently Nissan has no plans to import it here. Blame safety and perhaps emissions laws - the Duster was never designed for our market.
Even with these less-than-high resolution images, it's clear that the beyond the obvious badges, Nissan's signature trapezoidal grille and a slightly altered rear end with new taillights are the biggest visual clues that this is the Terrano, but those with astute eyes will also notice a slightly redesigned hood and blacked-out door pillars instead of the Duster's body-colored items. Either way, it looks to be a handsome, low-cost little brute - the sort of simple and rugged SUV that's hard to come by in today's marketplace.
