For sale is my 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible with a Commando 273 V-8; the original carter 4 barrel carburator and a floor shifted 904 automatic transmission. The car has under gone a complete restoration as it's an extremely rare color and engine combination. The exterior is PP1 bright red with a very desirable pearl white interior and matching white power convertible top. This car was sold in June 1967 at the Tupelo Plymouth Dealership (Mississippi) and spend it's life there until 2007. When I found the car the body was as solid as they come for a 1967 convertible since it was safely stored away since 1988. The car was stripped down to a rolling shell to begin the restoration. I hired JD's team at JD's Body and Paint, to strip the car to bare metal replaced both the rear floor pans, the front passenger floor pan as well as 6" of the lower passenger quarter panel behind the rear wheel. Then they primered and wet sanded it smooth before applying the base clear in the original color, PP1 Bright Red . For those MOPAR fans that read Mopar Muscle Magazine you should recognize this professional paint and body shop for the work they've done over the years on numerous projects.

The car has manual Kelsey-Hayes disc front brakes and 10" rear drum brakes that were completely rebuilt by Master Power Brakes with all new parts. All new stainless steel brake lines and emergency brake cable with a new master cylinder. New carpet, new convertible top with glass windows, new boot, new well liner, new raised white letter tires with the factory optionee mag wheel covers on the original 14" stamped steel wheels. New front to rear wiring harness with the engine harness upgraded to an electric ignition, all new door seals, window felts, window cranks, door cards, dual chrome side mirrors, new windshield, new door arm rests, arm rest pads, new trunk cover, spare tire cover, restored bumper jack and restored bucket seat tracks. There are way too many new parts to name, as I've invested over $30k restoring this American classic to it's current condition so she could live to enjoy another day.

The front suspension has also been completely restored with a deluxe front end rebuild kit from PST with poly bushings to improve handling. I completely restored the k-member, UCA's and LCA's with sway bar tabs by media blastings them and epoxy primered and painted them. The power steering gear box and pump where also professionally rebuilt to original factory specs. The undercarriage has been restored and shows as well as the rest of the car.

The engine, carburetor and transmission where all professionally rebuilt and have less than 100 miles since installed. The engine was bored 40 over and the heads had a performance valve job that included cleaning up the bowls to improve the air flow. The Commando 273 HP came from the factory with solid lifters and adjustable rocker arms and I saw no reason to deviate from these factory "goodies". I purchased all the original engine fasteners from Rob's Parts to keep everything as OEM as possible. The alternator, starter, water pump, fuel pump, stainless steel fuel line, motor mounts, transmission mount, fuel tank, fuel sending unit, fuel tank insulation, plug wires, coil, spark plugs and an up-graded 1973 electronic distributor was installed. The engine was professionally broke in by the engine builder of Racing Products in Summerfield, Florida. I have the original build sheet and fender tag as well as photos that document the entire restoration process. 

The car is being sold as is where is with no written or implied warrantee.  I encourage all serious bidder to ask questions prior to bidding.  You are welcome to come and personally inspect the vehicle to confirm its condition. You will not be disappointed.  The car must be paid in full within 10 days and picked up no later than 21 days.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
