1970 Plymouth Duster 340 Numbers Match Factory Lemon Twist on 2040-cars

Overbrook, Kansas, United States

1970 Plymouth Duster project car.  Original 340 car with numbers matching 340 engine.  Engine is complete from carb to pan except for the distributor and does include the correct HP exhaust manifolds and engine mounts.  727 automatic transmission is not original to the car.  Has an 8 3/4 rear end with an open differential and unknown gearing.  Correct K-frame with front swaybar.  Car is factory Lemon Twist yellow with black interior.  Bench seat, column shift.  I have a split bench with armrest in it now out of a '72 Valiant.  Has the correct 150 mph rally dash as well as all the original wiring for it.  Currently has large bolt pattern disc brakes on the front.  Manual steering, manual brake car.

The car has a '72 front clip on it.  Fenders are repairable but not perfect.  Hood and valance are in good shape.  Front bumper is driver quality.  Outer shell is fairly solid, but interior will need quite a bit of metal work.  Rear quarters need patched down low behind the wheel wells.  Someone has cut the torsion bar cross member at some point in its life to fit a manual transmission in it.  I do have another cross member that will be included with it.  Floors are very rusty.  Will need full front and rear floor pans as well as trunk pan and trunk extensions.

Fender Tag reads:

R11 V6X V8X YO5 EN2

FY1 D2X9 TX9 713 329358

Feel free to contact me with any questions.  Car has a clean Oklahoma title.  I bought this as a shell with intentions of restoring and have had a change of heart.  Would like it go to someone who can give it the time and money it deserves.  Thanks for looking.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
