 I found this highly optioned 66 Pontiac Bonneville 2 door hardtop with a Brougham package in a barn!  It had been parked for many, many years! 

Someone is going to get an amazing survivor!

    It has a 389 CI 325HP 4 barrel V8 engine, turbo 400 automatic transmission, 10 bolt rear end.

Options include:
 power antenna (works!)
6 way power front seat (works!)
rear window defogger (works!)
reverberator for the radio (works!)
oil and temperature gauges (they both work!)
excellent power steering and brakes
tilt steering column
remote control drivers outside rear view mirror
Front and rear fold down center armrests

The Brougham package included many upgrades including cloth upholstery and upscale trim.

    It is all there and complete, front fenders are rust free and straight, floor pan is solid and rust free, doors are rust free, rear quarters have had some work done on them at some point in the past but I see no evidence of any rust.  Original everything! Including the paint.

All the stainless is still on the car and looks great!  The rear bumper has peeling, the front is in fair condition.

The filler panel beneath the rear window that was covered by the vinyl top had rust but was repaired and the trunk pan has rust. The  upholstery, headliner, vinyl top and dash pad are in desperate need of repair/replacement.

The engine runs smooth and strong, the transmission shifts properly and goes down the road very nicely.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
