What we have is 1967 Pontiac firebird convertible 400 automatic.  This car is a very solid project car.  First I will start with a little history.  This car is a project it has been sitting without running for over 10 years.  The carb does not move the throttle is stuck ( I have not tried to clean it.). The motor does have the 6x heads.  I do not know if this is the original motor.  The body tag numbers state that this is a original 400 car.  I was told that the transmission is a turbo 350 I don't know much about it ( it did shift into neutral with no problem when we rolled the car).

The bad part about the car is the floors are in very bad shape.  The center piece is still in good shape as is the rail underneath the doors.  The interior appears to be all there but will need to be cleaned up and a few pieces fixed or replaced(see pictures).   The convertible top has pieces but I do not know what is useable and what is not.  It does not have the canvas.

The body seems very solid.  It is hard to tell since this car is in primer but it looks very straight.  The car was originally a red exterior with the black interior very desirable color combo.  Please use the pictures to judge the car.

Overall the car is a great start to a very nice car.  This car would be worth a ton when it is completed.  Please remember this car is a project and will need to be towed home.  You are more than welcome to call 608-302-8943 or email me with questions.  I have been asked why I am selling this, to be honest my wife put her foot down ( Happy wife happy life).

I will require a $1000.00 deposit within three days of the end of auction.  I would like the car picked up within 7 days of auction end.  I will not deliver.  I will not ship overseas.  I would prefer you to pick the car up.  Any questions let me know very low reserve.  Good luck

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
