1979 Pontiac Firebird Espirit Redbird Edition on 2040-cars

US $7,500.00
Year:1979 Mileage:32000
Location:

Allentown, Pennsylvania, United States

Allentown, Pennsylvania, United States

This is a TRUE 1979 Firebird Espirit RedBird (See VIN). Please know what a redbird is before you inquire about this specific car. It is not a Trans Am, Formula or BaseFirebird. It does not have the eagle on the hood.

Paint is newer (few years) and interior is almost perfect. The odeometer reads 32,000 miles however the title states TMU (true mileage unknown) due to age. Thus I have no idea how many miles are truly on the car. I was the told the drivetrain is original and has the 301 2 barrel engine. Metal, trim, etc are all good and very solid body with no known rust. Very Nice but if you are going to look down the side of the car it is not perfect..there are some minor imperfections.

The car is special in that everything is there and not ripped out like so many of these 2nd generation cars had done. I had to spend roughly 2K after purchasing to fix some issues.

It is currently under a classic car insurance policy with agreed value of 9,000.00 The PA inspection and emissions are good until 6/2014. The car has a new exhaust system, weather stripping, tires and many other recent suspension items. Interior is a 9.5 out of 10. (very small) crack on dash. That is about it. rug, headliner, seats, console, gauges, etc. all 9.5 out of 10.

Please email me with more questions or send your phone # and I can call you to discuss. This car was supposed to ship west with me during my job relo in December but the winter has been to brutal to trailer it so it is still located in Allentown, Pa. Final attempt at listing now that the weather is nice in NorthEast. No trades and I will not take $5,000 for the car. You will not find a car like this, what the repairs in it and looks for my asking price.

**NOTE** Please note you must come see the car (in Person) and go to a local notary to do all paperwork. No exceptions or shipping. Please do not ask for a picture of every square inch of the car. Come see it for yourself. The pictures below will show you it is exceptionally clean.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.

NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.
