Up for auction is my 97 Trans am convertible. There were less than 1,000 convertibles built in 1997 so these cars are getting rare and hard to find. I'm trying to make room in my shop and just don't drive the car that much anymore. The body is in good condition there are several small dings and chips but still vary good for it's age .Paint is fair. The top is the original so it is showing some age but does not leak and no tears. DON'T let the rebuilt title run you off. This car had a dent in the right quarter panel , broken tail light  , small tears in front and rear bumper covers. Bumper covers were replaced with GM covers. Frame was professionally checked and found to have no damage. I had a aftermarket ram-air hood put on ( looks better than stock hood ) . Car report shows no flood damage, was not stolen and recovered and no serious damage. Interior is normal for a car with 103,000 miles leather seats are good, door panels good, rear panels have some scratches.  Factory radio was replaced with a Pioneer that is IPod compatible. There is a 10 disc Sony cd player in trunk works ok but is an older unit. Trans Am graphics are from auto graphics and are reflective. The LT1  350 runs good and strong oil pressure is good no knocks or ticks no smoking out the tail pipes. There is a small oil leak from the valve covers from sitting so much the last couple years. Battery was replaced this spring with a HD Dura last from auto zone. Transmission shifts good with no slipping. Tires are the fusion ZRI and are in good shape 50-70% life left in them. Car does not have or come with warranty and is sold as is. Buyer is responsible for shipping.

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."

GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
