PHS documents show the car was originally Iris Mist and was changed to Mayfair Maize. During the upgrade, some small paint imperfections were repaired when the glass was out of the car. The car received new lenses on all the factory lights. All the stainless trim was removed and professionally refinished. All of the factory trim was repainted where necessary and a new windshield was installed.

The biggest change to the body was done to the hood scoop. Since ’65 GTO’s have a solid metal hood scoop, this one was removed from the car and CNC cut out so that the motor could breathe fresh air into the tri-power air cleaner pan which was added.

Interior: The interior of the car received the biggest change, as it was completely redone.
All NEW carpet, headliner, door panels with pulls, seat upholstery front and rear with new foam.
The dash was freshly painted with new trim panels and the gauge panel itself was re-chromed by MR G. vacuum plating. Anyone who knows Pontiacs knows that Pete Serio at Precision Pontiac builds the best gauges, so the stock panel with “idiot” lights was replaced with a fully restored rally Gauge panel at the cost of $1400.00 alone.
The other big change was the driver’s seat. After a long exhaustive search, we located an original 1965 Pontiac Power driver’s seat. That seat was completely rebuilt and recovered and then installed with a factory style seat harness. I’ve been told that the seat alone could be worth $2000 because it’s so rare. The trunk was also completely refinished with all new mats and tire cover.

Motor: The motor on the car had been rebuilt shortly before my purchase of the car, so it didn’t require anything but a little freshening up. The biggest issue was the tri-power carbs set-up. Since this was an added on original set, they hadn’t been rebuilt in years. The carbs were shipped to the best in the business ‘Sparkys Carbs” for a full rebuild and detail along with all the necessary linkage pieces to make everything function properly. The motor was given all new gaskets’ as well as a new ignition system. We installed a new aluminum radiator with overflow and shroud. The motor got new HOOKER jet hot coated headers and exhaust system. The tri-power pan sealed to the hood is a great addition along with the custom cut hood scoop. Everything was detailed and shows amazingly well and runs fantastically.

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM

Fri, 16 Oct 2009

Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
