1965 Pontiac Le Mans Gto on 2040-cars
New Hudson, Michigan, United States
Up For auction is a BEAUTIFUL 1965 Pontiac Le Mans 2 door hardtop coupe GTO tribute car. I don't know where to start with this one. This car is 100% rust free and has original steel throughout! The body is painted in a very sharp deep metallic blue paired with the original interior! The seats have been taken car of very well and were recently dyed. The door panels are new as well as the head liner. The body on this amazing gto recreation is laser straight and free from defects. All the chrome and bright work looks great (especially around those beautiful stacked head lights). The body lines all match up perfectly, and the gaps are nice and even throughout the car. This vehicle was originally sold in North Carolina, and it remained in the south for the vast majority of its life where is pampered to the extreme. Beautiful new set of tires and wheels to compliment the look of the vehicle. The motor is a VERY healthy Pontiac 455 bored .030 over with a mild cam backed by a freshly built turbo 400 auto and 3.73 gear in the rear. Don't be fooled by its size or the quiet rumble from the brand new dual exhaust, this car is quick! All the glass is in perfect condition, all lights, wipers, signals, horn, and other electronics and mechanical items function as should. There are only about 2000 miles on this car since its body off complete restoration. The beauty doesn't stop with the body or interior, the engine bay and trunk are in as good of shape as a brand new car!!! If that's not enough for you, the quality continues to the under body. Its SPOTLESS, you could flip her around and eat off the under side of this car. This is a great example of what a true restoration looks like. No corners cut. Even has the spare tire and jack in the trunk! This vehicle comes with its original window sticker, bill of sale, protect o plate, original 1965 protection plan book, original registration.... it is a complete package for any automotive enthusiast. Driveability? Its amazing! With power disc brakes up front, fresh drums in the rear, and power steering...This is the perfect ride to take the family on a cruise in, trip to the local show, grocery store on sunday, or town dairy queen...Sure to turn heads every time you pull it out. This car NEEDS NOTHING. Just a good home and great owner to enjoy and continue to pamper. If your in the market for a GTO or Le Mans, this is truly a great car to consider. Keep in mind while bidding, although this may be a GTO tribute, it sure plays the part of a true GTO, has all the looks and styling but wont cost you the $50,000+ that a gto in this condition would command. Im sure I am leaving something out, so be sure to visit this page on a mac or pc and view the 100+ photos displaying every inch of the car. SERIOUS bidders only!!! NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys
Mon, 10 Jun 2013According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.
Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day
Thu, 07 Jun 2012Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.
