1970 GTO Ram Air III four speed...95%+ rust free car with great color combination. Original sheet metal with no rust floors, doors, fenders, trunk lid, front valance and frame. The only body work was done at the back bottoms corner of each 1/4 panel (pictured). The original hood was kinked and replaced with a very nice non-ram air hood but car also comes with a decent repairable ram air hood. Very nice front bumper and valance as is rear bumper and tail lights. Fenders have never been patched. Doors shut amazingly, all sheet metal gaps are great.
Car is complete except original motor is gone. M20 transmission is non-match but is a period correct 1970, complete with shifter, linkage, bell housing and flywheel. Original 10 bolt 3.55 posi, boxed control arms and sway bar still under car. Upper ram air pan, flapper and scoops are near perfect and original. Lower ram air pan missing but ram air pull cable and under dash bracket/knob are still there and works great. Interior isn't terrible. Driver's seat is torn in 2-3 spots. The rest of interior is driver quality. 4 speed console is nice. Dash is cracked and headliner has opened up in two seams. Rear package tray and window area are rock solid, inside and out. Paint is faded but it will buff out for a driver. I do have a complete '70 YS motor with under 5K miles on rebuild, that can be bought separately. I also know where there is a WS short block that is correct for this car.

I have a lot more pictures if needed. Email all questions or call for more info.

Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
