1971 Pontiac GTO Complete owner history back to the day it was ordered by an air force academy grad named thomas arizmendi (whose name is on the protect-o-plate).
The car was built the month of june at the Fremont California plant and delivered to Johnson Pontiac in Colorado Springs. It was then prepped and picked up by it's new owner August 17th 1971.
Total invoice price with options was $4422.65.With his military discount of $658.65 his out the door price was $ 3878.03.
His new GTO didn't sit still long after graduation he drove his new Pontiac from Colorado Springs to Boston...then onto San Antonio Texas and ended his trip in Sacramento CA.Then a year of flight training-then assigned to Clark AFB in the Phillipines ...Thomas could not take his GTO with him so it was put up for sale in April of 1973.By that time the car had covered 24,000 miles and was in excellent condition.
Purchased by another GI in California it stayed there until 1984 then onto Grand Forks North Dakota until 1986 then moving to Witchita Kansas and staying there until June 2006.
By 2006 the GTO had accumulated 99,139 well cared for miles. That is when I purchased the car. The odometer now reads 99,298 miles....So in the last 7 years it has covered 159 miles-all going to local car shows.
This car is a real time capsule... totally unmolested-totally unabused and well cared for it's entire life.
The Cameo white paint is in amazing condition as is the interior right down to the GM floor mats that cost $13.65 when delivered.

The engine has never been apart with the exception of a Timing chain replacement at about 85,000 miles which included lifters-all GM replacement parts.
If you ever wondered what a 1971 GTO would have driven like in 1971 this the car.2 pumps and it starts right up-no smoke-no drama-no noises ...very quiet inside no air leaks. The doors close with a nice solid sound-just like it did when it left the factory.
I have restored cars and cars that have never been touched....but there is something about a car that has never been apart-they just feel different and drive different.
They are only original once and it makes a difference.
All paperwork included
Build sheet
Dealer invoice
Protect-O-Plate
PHS Documents
Glove box Folder with all hand outs
2 pages of owner documented history
It's time for someone else to be the caretaker of this rare Pontiac.

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am
Mon, 13 May 2013No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.
Driving Notes
GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.
Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO
Mon, 24 Jun 2013Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.
