Year:2004 Mileage:85618

This listing is for a super-rare Ram Air GT edition Pontiac Grand Am. The year is 2004. It has very low mileage for its age. I do not have any photos of the interior included in this auction at the moment, but it is in perfect condition just like the rest of the car. This car is so rare, there is not even a Blue Book value for it. If you check the Blue Book sites, Ram Air and ENKEI rims are not even options.

I based the asking price on the Blue Book retail price for a Grand Am GT of this year and mileage plus an approximately 30% markup for the rarity of the options. I am open to offers, but given the rare value of this car, I am not willing to sell it cheap or at what you would call a wholesale price. Wholesalers, marketers, and scammers; please don't waste your time or mine by trying to contact me about this.

The engine is a GM 3400 (3.4L) just like what would be found in a police-model Impala. These motors are known for longevity. They use a timing chain rather than a timing belt for the overhead cams, so the motor is basically maintenance free. At the vehicle's current mileage, it is just now getting broken in and has much life ahead of it. I encourage you to search this fact online. In addition to having the famous Impala motor, this special edition car has the forced-induction Ram Air system which gives the 3400 motor more power than would be found in even the police cars.

This vehicle is in perfect, all-original condition. The only "modification" is the K&N air filter (which really isn't even a modification). The bright-red paint is all-original. It is a little dull on the hard-edges on the front end, but this is natural wind-burn on a car like this. I decided that it would have better value with the paint being all original rather than repainting the very-minor fading on the front edges (which probably cannot even be seen in the photos or from a distance of a few feet or more when looking at it in person).

The last year for the Grand Am was 2005. While Pontiac did offer the Ram Air option in previous years, it was nothing like the ones made in 2004 and 2005. These late-model Ram Air GT's featured a aggressive body style with hood scoops, race-style front air-dam (bumper cover), Ferrari-style side louvers, and a spoiler. This is a very powerful and fast car, but also offers all the conveniences of any sport-sedan. The Grand Am was really the first ever sport-sedan to be offered on the modern American market.

There is no grill on the front of the vehicle, instead the Ram Air scoops exist in this location. This is the reason for the custom-styled front air-dam which has a lower front-spoiler that directs air up and into the radiator.

Everything in the vehicle is in top-notch working condition. I just had this vehicle shipped up from the south-west, so it has never even seen snow or road salt. Under the hood, you will see that it is probably the cleanest used car that you have ever seen.

The rims are made by ENKEI (an American manufacturer of premium alloy wheels). Some of the photos show the vehicle without hubcaps, all of the original ENKEI hubcaps are included. The ENKEI name and GM logo are cast into every wheel so that you know that they are authentic.

I have not taken photos of the interior yet, but it is just as clean as the rest of the vehicle. The color is tan. I will gladly provide photos of the interior if you would like to send a message and ask.

The only option for payment and pickup is payment up-front and pickup at my home. The buyer is responsible for arranging shipping if desired and must send cleared/certified payment prior to pickup.

If the buyer is a Maryland or Delaware resident, we will renew the inspection form so that you are ready to register the vehicle.

There are no mechanical problems whatsoever. The only minor issue is that the tires do not match from front to back. The rear tires are brand new Cooper Dorals and the front are Hankook with approximately 1/2-3/4 tread life remaining.

Scammers don't waste time!

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.

GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns

Sun, 05 Oct 2014

Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.
