1974 Pontiac Grand Prix Sj on 2040-cars

Year:1974 Mileage:133082
Location:

Payson, Arizona, United States

Payson, Arizona, United States

I'm Selling A 1974 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ. This Is A Real SJ. It Is Also A Southwestern Car So It Is Pretty Clean. It Does Run And Drive But Needs Engine Work, I Believe It Has A Blown Head Gasket And Has A Slight Knock When Idling When Engine Warms Up. It Has A Non Original 1973 Or 1974 400 Motor. Transmission Shifts Excellent And Car Drives And Stops Real Good. It Does Have A Clear Arizona Restoration/Salvage Title. Mileage Reads Around 33,000 And Is In Excess Of Legal Limits According To The Title. The Only Damage That I Can See On The Car To Warrant The Restoration/Salvage Title Is That The Driver Side Door Has Been Replaced And There Is A Slight Dent In The Rocker Panel. No Frame Damage. The Rest Of The Body Is Very Straight With Only Minor Dings. The Car Has Also Been Re-painted At One Time In It's Original Fire Coral Bronze Color And The Clear Coat It Cracking. The Front Windshield Is Cracked. Bumpers Are Both Straight With Decent Chrome. It Is Missing The Wheel Well Trim And Driver Side Rocker Panel Trim. It Has Factory Air As Most Did But It Is Not Working. It Also Has Bucket Seat's With Power Driver Seat That Does Work. The Interior Has Been Re-upholstered At Sometime And Is Not In Good Shape. It Has Five Rally II Wheels With Pretty Decent Center Caps And Trim Rings. Rear Tires Have Good Tread But Fronts Are No Good. It Has The Original AM/FM Radio But It Is Not Working. The Front Top Of Hood Is Rusted As Shown In Pictures. The Trunk Floor Has Surface Rust But No Holes. I Do Not See Any Rust Anywhere On The Rest Of The Body Other Than A Couple Of Bubbles In The Paint On The Decklid. My Starting Bid Is At $1200 With No Reserve. The Parts Value Of This Car Is Worth Much More Than That. This Is A Nice Solid Car And With Some Of Work It Would Make A Nice Driver. I Will Be Happy To Answer Any And All Questions Pertaining To The Car. I'm Requiring A PayPal Deposit Of $300 From The Winning Bidder Within 24 Hours Of Auction's End And Payment In Full With The Funds Being Cleared Before The Car Is Released. Thanks.

GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns

Sun, 05 Oct 2014

Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
