1964 Pontiac Lemans 2 Door Hardtop California Car on 2040-cars

US $12,500.00
Year:1964 Mileage:107000
Location:

Clovis, California, United States

This auction is for a 1964 Pontiac LeMans 2 door hardtop. It is an original California car still wearing its original Black and Yellow license plates. We have the original receipt from Bruin Motor Company in Los Angeles California dated April 4 1964 to the original owner for $3062. We have the original owner’s manual with Protecto plate. We found the build sheet under the rear seat. Car was built in Fremont CA.

I am listing this car for my son who has been restoring it for the past couple years.

 Please read the following description:

Engine: It is powered by its original 326 cu.in.2 BBL V8. We have the receipt from march 2004 for a complete rebuild for a cost of over $4700. At present the motor has just under 24,500 miles. It starts, runs, and sound great with dual Flowmasters and new tail pipes. My son replaced the stock valve covers with Chrome GTO covers. The original fan was removed and thermostatically controlled electric fans were installed. Also has a pointless ignition installed under stock distributer cap.

Transmission:   In Oct 2004 the original 2 speed automatic transmission was replaced with a rebuilt Turbo 350 (3 speed) at a cost of just under $1000. Installation was very professional with factory kick down cable. We have the original trans if wanted.

Mechanics: This car starts, runs and stops great. Has 4 wheel drum brakes that work great (non power). Power steering, and an updated chrome single wire alternator.

Body /Frame: In January 2005, the car was repainted “very close” to the original color. Paint is a Macco style job. Looks Fantastic from 20’ but is NOT show quality. For being 9 years old it has held up very well, with minimum dings scatches etc(but they are present). The frame / body is solid , dry, super clean, and rust free

Accessories:  Stock Am radio non op. Has Oil pressure, Temp, and Amp auxiliary gauges installed under dash. All work, car runs cool, holds great oil pressure, and charging system is upgraded with single wire Alt.  Gas gauge does not work. All lights work

Chrome: Bumpers look great. Rear bumper has little bow(see pics)

Trim and stainless is good with some dings

Wheels and tires:  The car has Pontiac Rally II wheels, 15” x 7” in rear, 15” x 6” in front. Tires are in good shape. We have the original 14” steel wheels with full wheel covers.

Interior: This is a bucket seat /console Lemans. My son just recently finished redoing almost the whole interior. New seat covers/foam front and rear, new carpet, new headliner, new package tray, arm rests, window cranks etc.  It came out Xlint.

Glass: All Glass is good and windows roll up and down fine

Suspension: Car has had coils cut front and rear for a perfect hot rod stance. Still drives fine with no rubbing or shaking etc. Goes down the freeway at 70mph nicely.

CARS NEEDS: The following is next on the list to be done.

New door seals

Fuel gauge fixed

Original steering wheel is cracked

New paint

Horn in-op

Conclusion: This is a turn key Classic Pontiac that could be the basis for a GTO clone, or drive just as is. Our goal was first to make it reliable, and that we accomplished. We have lots and lots of receipts and old registrations to show this car spent its whole life in California. If you want a show car, this is not it. It you want a reliable classic that you would not be ashamed of at any Friday night cruise, then for the $$ this is the car for you

If you are seriously interested, please feel free to give my son a phone call with any questions you may have. You can reach him at

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.

Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you're an automotive engineer being tormented by an immortal being made of fire, then wouldn't you think it best to have a custom coupe called the FireBreather for your getaway car? That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.
