Up for auction is a wrecked, rolling shell of a 1969 Lemans 2 door hardtop. Was a floor shift automatic with buckets and console.This car is mostly parted out as you can see in the pictures. I was going to scrap it but when I pulled the carpet and saw the floors I thought someone might be able to use them, would be a shame to scrap it. The only non-sheet metal parts left are the gas tank, driveshaft, windshield, rear window and exhaust. The exhaust consists of dual straight pipes with cherry bomb mufflers. Sounded great before I pulled the engine. The driver side tail pipe is bent from the accident. The windshield and rear window glass is good, no cracks and is tinted. No other glass is included. Both doors are already sold. The chassis is complete and is 4 wheel drum. The frame is bent in the rear from the accident but is very solid. It could probably be fixed fairly easily. The rear is open, 10 bolt. I don't know the ratio. I looked for the markings on the tubes and didn't see any. The floors are rock solid, all original. The rusted places seen in the pictures are surface rust, no weak places that I could see. The trunk floor and inner/outer rear wheel wells are very nice as well except where the trunk pan is bent from the rear ender. There is one patched place.[about 4"X4"] on the passenger side toe board [shown in the last picture]. That is the only patch I can see on any of the floors, passenger area or trunk. These floors are original, never painted [other than factory overspray], as they were from the factory so there is nothing covered up. What you see is what you get. As you can see the trunk lid and driver's rear quarter are toast. The passenger rear quarter looks pretty straight but does have some bondo in it. The front fenders are useable but also have bondo where the hood meets them and at the bottom, where they all rust. The hood is rusted in the underside framing near the windshield and has holes drilled from hood pins. The area under the windshield at the cowl vents unfortunately has the usual rust-thru [2nd to last pict.]. I am starting the auction at $550 which is what I figure I can get if I continue to piece it out and scrap the body. What you see in the pictures is what you get. No parts will be taken off the car while the auction is running. This car rolls easily but has no steering and no brakes. The title is clear and open, VIN plate and body tag are in place. GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns
Sun, 05 Oct 2014Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.
Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro

That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.
eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile
Sun, 29 Apr 2012Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
