1972 Pontiac LeMans

Mechanical - The car was driven from Virginia back down to Raleigh, NC with no problems at all.  I have also driven the car around town and have had no problems with it.  The A/C compressor was removed by the previous owner, but I have it and all the brackets that go with it.  It has cherry bomb mufflers on it.  It sounds really good.  The brakes are in good working condition.  It has 112,000 miles on it.

Interior - The interior is original.  It has the original seat covers, door panels, headliner, etc.  The seats are in very good shape.  There are two small holes that I included in the pictures.  The door panels look good as well.  There is some wear as they are 41 years old.  The headliner has a few small tears, but looks really good for its age.  There is a crack in the dash that I also pictured.  The original radio is in the car but I believe the car needs new speakers.

Exterior - It has newer paint and looks nice.  It also has new decals.  It has the original 14 x 7 Rally II wheels that look good and new tires.  There isn't any rust on this car at all.  The floor pans are solid as is the trunk pan.  There are not even pin holes in the trunk.  The bottoms of the doors are rust free as well.  The front chrome bumper is in great shape.  There rear bumper has a little corrosion.

Overall this is a really cool original Pontiac.  It is not a show car and it has a few flaws, but it is a very nice driver that turns heads.  This is a no reserve auction, so the high bidder gets it.  Good luck bidding.

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
