    Reportedly the W72 optioned TA had 20 more horsepower than the L48 Vette in 1977. Of the 110,000 Firebirds built in 1977, only 8,000 were W72, 4-speed cars. Reportedly less than 600 stock W72's on the road today.

   Paint still looks good with no signs of any major damage over the years.

   Engine to my knowledge is bone stock except someone over the years has replaced the intake manifold with an Edelbrock and added Hedman Headers without any cutting off the frame or braces etc.

   The engine sounds and runs excellent, no smoking and the transmission shifts excellent through the gears up and down 4 speed H pattern.

   New Exhaust has been added with dual Magnaflow mufflers as seen in the pics.

   The bad News:  Car does have rust in the following areas: Right Quarter Panel, Right Gutter Trunk Side, Right/Left Front and Rear Floor sections and battery tray....I have an estimate from a local classic car restoration shop for repairs totaling $2,185.00 for labor plus parts. Most all parts can be purchased from Ecklers or Classic Industries Parts and Accessories. 

   The Interior needs re-done including the headliner with an estimate of $3,000.00 for new seat covers, floor carpet and headliner, door package...Labor only plus parts.

   A lot of these prices can vary from shop to shop and depending on how much you can do yourself.

   Just had new Interstate Battery installed.

   Original stock wheels are in great shape with approx. 80% rubber left on Raised White Letter Grand Am Radial GT's 235/60R15 tires.

   All glass is in great shape and windows roll up and down good with doors opening and closing properly.

   A/C Compressor is disconnected but appears the compressor is working ok, just needing new belt and probably R134 freon.

   All interior gauges and lights work except the clock on dash.

   Brakes reportedly are in great shape, no squeaking and stops properly with good compression on brake pedal.

   Also have original 4 speed Shifter Handle, Currently has Hurst T-handle on shifter.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

The Pontiac GTO was perhaps the most iconic muscle car of the '60s and early '70s. With its beefy V8 and color palette screaming for attention, it summarized in a single vehicle everything that made the era so appealing to many young people. Pontiac tried to collect just a few drops of that aura again in the 2000s with a revived GTO, but with decidedly mixed results. The performance was still there with its big V8, but the looks never quite lived up to the powertrain. Now, Generation Gap wants to know which of these Goats is the one to own.
Things are skewed immediately because the 2006 GTO here is a real ringer. It comes from famous tuner Ken Lingenfelter's collection, and it's a one-off example partially fettled by GM Performance boasting a twin-turbocharged LS2 V8 with a claimed 750 horsepower and a wide-body kit. This Goat definitely isn't what you're going to find just browsing for one to buy in the newspaper. Still, dip the throttle just a little, and this GTO pulls like a freight train. It's enough to turn the two hosts into giggling schoolboys behind the wheel.
The '69 GTO Judge here is also out of Lingenfelter's collection, but this one is all stock with a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 and a Ram Air hood for a claimed 366 hp. It might not have the unbelievable power of the turbo '06, but it makes up for it with style to spare.
