UP FOR AUCTION IS A VINTAGE 1988 PONTIAC SUNBIRD GT TURBO CONVERTIBLE WITH A 4-CYLINDER 2.0 LITER FUEL INJECTED ENGINE. EVERYTHING ON AND IN THE CAR IS ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR THE TOP WHICH WAS REPLACED ABOUT 5-YEARS AGO. THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 32,000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT AND HAS NEVER BEEN ON THE ROAD IN THE WINTER TIME; IT HAS BEEN USED LITTLE AND ALWAYS KEPT UNDER COVER IN THE WINTER MONTHS. MY PARENTS PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM A LOCAL DEALER IN UPSTATE NY. THE OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIP HAD PUT 12,000 MILES ON IT AS HE DROVE IT PRIOR TO THEM PURCHASING IT BUT THEY STILL GOT THE NEW CAR WARRANTY WITH IT. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM MY PARENTS A COUPLE YEARS AGO AND DIDN'T PUT IT ON THE ROAD UNTIL THIS PAST SUMMER. THE CAR DRIVES AND HANDLES VERY WELL AS WOULD BE EXPECTED FOR SUCH LOW MILEAGE. IT IS A VERY SNAPPY CAR WITH FAST ACCELERATION. AS CAN BE SEEN IN THE PHOTOS, IT IS NOT MINT BUT IN VERY NICE WELL PRESERVED CONDITION. THERE ARE SOME MINOR FLAWS WITH THE VEHICLE INCLUDING VERY MINOR SCRATCHING OF THE PAINT, SOME OF THE SUNBIRD LETTERS MISSING ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR, A LOOSE HOOD RELEASE LATCH (STILL FUNCTIONS FINE THOUGH), A SPEAKER THAT CRACKLES A LITTLE AND THE A/C DOES NOT WORK ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT TRIED TO HAVE IT CHARGED; THAT'S REALLY IT. IT'S AN AWESOME VINTAGE CAR WITH A TON OF LIFE LEFT IN IT. PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE. THIS CAR IS BEING OFFERED FOR PICK UP ONLY. Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC
Thu, 06 Feb 2014We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way
Tue, 21 Feb 2012There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
