1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am
One of 1500 made. Indy Pace Car Limited Edition. 19K
original miles. This car has the Buick Grand National 3.8 Turbo engine
installed from the factory. It was the fasted US production car in 1989. With
the lighter V6 Engine and the 1LE suspension this was a great handling car with
great braking capability. Never driven or been in rain or bad weather. Stored
in a heated garage for its entire life. Original paint, original rear spoiler
in great condition. Leather interior with all of the options. The paint and body are in excellent condition with no dings or scratches. A real garage kept and pampered car. Clean Car Fax and title. This car had a window sticker in 1989 for over $31K. That is
$60K in today's dollars. The car has the following upgrades and I have all of the original parts stored for the car. I took the factory exhaust off of the car when I got it to
preserve it.
Car has not been driven over several hundred miles during the last four years. It has a new battery and good tires. This has been a senior
owned car and never abused. I have an extra set of the rare rear rims. I will also include an extra set of glass T-Tops to go with the Lexan ones that come on the car. The TTA inherently has a weak transmission with the 200R4 that was used in all of the Turbo Buick's of that era. This car has an upgraded trans by Vince Janis, one of the best builders of these transmissions in the country. It also has a PTC 3000 stall converter which works perfectly with the car combination. The TTA also has an inherently inadequate fuel pump from the factory so that has been upgraded to the Walbro 255. All of the upgrades to the car were to address weaknesses in the factory TTA hardware. The car runs very good and it is time for someone else to
enjoy it as I do not drive it very much. The radio works intermittently but for the last few months
it has worked every time I started it up so I am not sure but thought I would
mention it. There is some slight wear on the driver side bolster which is normal for these cars. No rips tears or any stains on the carpet, seats, or doors.
My feedback score is 100% so I will be honest and treat you
fairly. I just noticed in the listing that it shows an odometer issue. When this car was titled in PA it was inadvertently listed as having 151,114 miles instead of 15,114. The current title states that 16K is the correct mileage on the title that I have and there are no issues with the mileage as this is an original 19K mile car with no issues with the title. I am not sure how these crept into the record with this car as far as the incorrect mileage and exceeds mechanical limits. Clerical issues, as I have a clean title and the car is obviously a very low mileage and well maintained car.

The issue is obviously a clerical issue as it shows that the mileage was 7000 miles three months prior to the box being inadvertently checked "exceeds mechanical limits". As stated above the car is a clean and original 19K mile car. The incorrect mileage in PA was corrected on the next vehicle record to reflect the actual mileage of 15,114 which was correct. |

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners
Fri, 28 Oct 2011This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

Fri, 26 Oct 2012At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."
GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns
Thu, 15 May 2014The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.
