I found this car in 2005 from a local guy who had it in his garage since 1982. He told me he bought the car in 1978 and he was the second owner so the odometer reading at 48, 483 miles is original. I spent the next 6 years restoring the car. Underside of car is painted with POR 15 and I painted every other part on car. The body has patch panels welded in on rear quarters behind the tires. To the best of my knowledge this is a numbers matching 1 of 6,140 with a 4 speed. The engine was taken to a local machine shop and was found to be in great shape so the block was only honed and the crank polished, new rings and bearing installed along with a new comp cam, lifters. The heads are milled and rebuilt so the engine is all new and it has around 300 miles on in. I had the flywheel resurfaced and a new centerforce duel friction clutch installed. New Hooker headers and a full 3" 409 stainless Pypes exhaust. The front suspension was all rebuilt and all new shocks. Rear springs are original ( no air shocks). Brake system had new master cylinder and new calipers and wheel cylinders, all new brake pads and shoes, rotors and drums are original and resurfaced. Metal brake lines are the original but all flex lines are new. I installed new door gaskets, carpet and headliner. The front seats are original 1975 deluxe buckets but are white from a parts car I bought to get the dash out of. I do have the original passenger seat but the drivers seat had some issues. The seats are in good condition just the wrong color and at this time they just have seat covers on them. The tires are new from 2010 and also have 300 miles on them, they are taken off the car in winter as I have another set that the car is stored on. This is the original AM/FM radio and it works but new speakers. The only option the car came with is tilt wheel, no power windows or locks and no ac .The car always start right up and runs and drives great. Oil pressure is great and you can see in one pics. I have an original 4 core radiator from an ac car so it always runs cool. Car also has new hoses and belts. The factory rims are painted silver and a light blue not the original gray and the bumper black is gloss not flat. The trim for the front and rear glass is painted black along with the door handles and locks and the front grills. I do have another complete set of these parts in the original chrome that can go with the car. I have another bird delete hood painted to match car that can be negotiated along with other spare parts. I have receipts for parts purchased.
Thanks for looking.
This is the era I grew up in and this car brings back those memory's and is so nice to drive/cruise around in!!!
Would love to keep this car but one kid remaining and college is a year away!

GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns
Sun, 05 Oct 2014Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.
Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?
Wed, 07 Oct 2009 DeLorean Motor Company Pontiac Solstice renderings - Click above for high-res image gallery
General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.
General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]
Fri, 26 Aug 2011You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
