This listing is for a 1978 Pontiac TransAm. I have owned this car since August 1999. When I purchased this car, it did not have the original 400 engine at all. I do have the original turbo 350 Pontiac automatic transmission. The shaker hood scoop has T/A 6.6 on it. Condition problems include: the dash is in bad condition and the headliner is completely gone. The duct work under the dash has been removed and was that way when I purchased it. The ignition switch on the low end of the column is bad and must be replaced. There is no radio in the car. It does not have a tilt steering column. Both door panels should be replaced. The front windshield is cracked and should be replaced. The factory AC Core at the firewall is gone completely. The engine has headers on it, but the exhaust system is not complete. I have taken photos of the worst exterior rust issues with the car. Please use your own judgement with the pictures. The car currently has a 350 Chevy engine and transmission in it that was removed from a 1971 Chevy half ton truck. Good news: The car is in drivable condition and drives straight. The seats are in good condition and the original console and shifter is fine. The car has factory 3.08 Posi rear end. The frame rails are solid and trunk floor is in good condition. I do have a set of 4 honeycomb wheels for it, but no lug nuts or center caps however. The car now has 14 inch aluminum slot wheels. Rear tires are in very good condition. This car has not been a daily driven car. And my best guess is that I haven't put 200 miles on it since owning it. I feel my starting price is very reasonable considering the condition of this TransAm.
Contact me at home at 6603382746 after 7 PM CST with any other questions concerning the car or condition. I will not part out this car at all. Please do not ask me to do so. This car is being sold as a restoration project AS IS with no warranty. The car is not licensed or insured at this time so the buyer will need a trailer when picking up the car.
A non-refundable deposit of $500 must be put down at the time of auction close. The remainder is due when the buyer picks up the car.

Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am
Wed, 15 May 2013When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.
Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro
Tue, 08 Apr 2014If you're an automotive engineer being tormented by an immortal being made of fire, then wouldn't you think it best to have a custom coupe called the FireBreather for your getaway car? That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.
STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM
Fri, 16 Oct 2009Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
