I have a 1979 Pontiac Transam Drag Car that I am going to sell with the trailer it sits in. I used to race every week and have now moved and only race once or twice a year. This car has been 10.60's and over 125 MPH and has been to victory lane several times at several different race tracks with the following combination. here are some specifics from front to back: full fiberglass front end (still needs finished but raceable), 455 engine, punched 0.030 over to give it 462 cubic inches, crank and rods are 0.010 turned, eagle rods, ross pistons (fly cut), the interior has been deburred by hand, solid lift 525 comp cam, cast #62 heads shaved to 72 CC which on a 455 puts it somewhere around 10.5-1 compression, 1.65 harland sharp roller rockers, victor intake, 1050 dominator carb, crank trigger, MSD 6AL, Painless 8 switch control panel for the whole car, pro stick shifter, 400 turbo transmission (have an extra transmission that I will let go with the package), drive shaft loop, custom drive shaft, 12 bolt chevy rear, 30 spline Moser axles, C-clip eliminators, full spool, 4:11 pro gear, electric fuel pump, 1/2" braided fuel line, 5 gallon fuel cell, rear mounted battery, bumper mounted charging lugs, hoosier slicks that have two races on them, aluminum wheels, 6 point roll cage, 5 point racing harness, oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge, *(volt meter gauge does not wok)*, racing seat. This car is turn key and will run and is race ready right now. The trailer is a 24' 2004 Halmark transport with a passenger side camper door with a dead bolt, 2 5/16" hitch, nothing special just a good enclosed race car trailer.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported
Thu, 13 Feb 2014General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod
Fri, 21 Feb 2014There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile
Sun, 29 Apr 2012Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.
