You are bidding on a 1979 10th Anniversary Pontiac Trans Am.  This is a solid car which would be an excellent restoration candidate or even a daily driver but it is a 34 year old car.  I'm selling because I don't have the time or money to restore the car like I wanted to.  Car runs great and I would have full confidence in driving the car coast to coast.  Odometer says 80k but no way to verify if it's rolled around.  The 10th anniversary had every option available that year.  Car has the turbo wheels and mirrored t-tops.  Also has the original t-top bags, floor mats and space saver tire.  I have the build sheet and owners manual also.

Used condition.  Paint looks to be original and it is in need of a paint job because it is faded and flaking in some spots and some scratches.  Minor surface rust on roof. Center console armrest is cracked. Seams popped on driver and rear seats.  I talked with a local upholsterer and he said it should be a minor fix.  Some wear on the mirrored t-tops.  8 track worked last time I used it but that was about 4 years ago and don't have a tape to check, radio works great.  Air Conditioning works but needs charged, probably has a leak.  I know it sounds like a lot but it is 34 years old and I will do my best to show any flaws with the car.   If you would like more pictures or info on something specific please feel free to ask.   I encourage you to have the vehicle inspected.

Inspections will be at buyer's expense and by appointment.  I will do my best to accommodate and make the vehicle available for inspection.

Local pickup or shipping is buyer's responsibility and expense.

Car is sold AS IS!    No warranty.  No returns or refunds so please ask any questions you may have before you bid.  Seller has the right to cancel bids from bidders with zero or negative feedback.

A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 (USD) is required from winning bidder within 48 hours after bidding/auction has ended. The remainder of balance is due within 7 days of auction ending.  Vehicle will not be released until full payment has been received and cleared from my bank.

GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns

Thu, 15 May 2014

The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.
