Let me give you a little history on the car and myself. I am sure that I will not remember everything but I wont BS you about anything. I want the buyer to know exactly what he will be recieving, If you have any questions please email me. Now, This car was a storage/Barn find. It was found in storage somewhere in Flordia and shortly fell into the hands of a classic car dealer. They put some light work into it just to get it looking good. I had purchased it and had it shipped to me in Biloxi, MS. The car came with no paper work and was in need of a serious tune-up. I drove the car as a daily driver for about 2 months until I PCSed to Goldsboro, NC to my new base. I then was able to keep it stored and cared for properly. I took the car to a very reputable classic car restoration shop(Trinity Auto) and had the guys there rebuild the carburetor and adjust the timing. The car drove cross country when I moved here and I would not hesitate to take her cross country again, The motor is solid! Additionally the body of the car while not perfect, is in very good condition. The front bumper has a small paint chip and there are some very small/ barely noticeable blemishes/chips. There is no serious body work needed at all.  But, The car is not perfect and it does have some issues. It leaks a very minimal amount of oil, a couple drops on the garage floor a month. It comes from the drain pan gasket and I have not replaced it. When I purchased the car it had the heater core bypassed. I hooked it up just to find the obvious, Yes it needs a new heater core. The car has a issue with the headlights and dome light. The dim's will only come on if the brights are on. And the dome light will not turn off. Also, it needs a new shift knob. Please keep in mind I have the dash off(not the entire dash, just the shiny metal part) because I was working on the electrical and it will be sold that way unless you email me and ask for me to put it back on. When looking at the pictures please keep in mind that those pictures were taken after a professional detail of the entire car and it may not be that spotless when you receive it.  Besides these problems it is a Numbers matching car and as far as I can tell almost everything on the car is original. It has less than 40,000 Original Miles and has treated me very well. You may love the car as-is but if not, it will not take much work to get it where you want. You may ask why I am selling the car. I need a truck. I am a new home owner and I cant keep relying on friends and neighbors. I truly do love the car and I am in no hurry to sell it so please do not lowball me.

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
