1980, T-tops, Ws6 Package, 468 Big Block Chevrolet, Tci Turbo 350 Transmission on 2040-cars
Laclede, Missouri, United States
I have for sale my: 1980 Pontiac Trans Am The 1980 Pontiac Trans Am had a Pontiac 4.9L 301 turbo motor. I swapped out the motor mounts and now have a mid 70's Chevrolet big block 454 in the Pontiac. This engine was professionally rebuilt Machined, Balanced, and Assembled 454 to a 468. The block was Hot Tanked, Magnafluxed, and Bored .060” over with all new internal parts. I had it completely rebuilt to a 468 stroker before it was installed in Car. The 468 block has a aluminum high rise intake manifold with two holley four barrel carburetors. The cylinder heads are original heads that came with the 454 motor. They were hot tanked and re- valved. The cam is a Lunati VooDoo hydraulic lifter cam. I have all the receipts from rebuild on motor. I spared no money rebuilding the motor, it was built with all the best parts. Motor has been drove about 1200 miles since new. The transmission is a TCI Turbo 350 automatic transmission which was installed along with motor. This particular transmission is the Super Street Fighter Transmission rated to handle 750-1025 horsepower. It has a TCI Torque Convertor with a 2,800 RPM stall speed. The TCI Transmission cost. This Transmission shifts great and really puts all the horsepower on the pavement. Other Key Features of this Trans Am:
This Pontiac has always been garaged and only gets out when weather permitted. I get thumbs up and compliments every time I drive this car. It passes inspection, front end has been totally gone thru with new parts and alignment once I first purchased car. While driving you can let go of steering wheel at 70 mph and the car rolls perfectly straight down the highway. This car has been a nice cruiser for me and has never been raced or abused. The only rust you can find is very minimal amount of surface rust on the undercarriage which accumulated before I had purchased car this can be sanded lightly and painted. If you look at photos you can see what I mean and I also have slow walk-thru videos of undercarriage posted at bottom of listing. I have a 2010 truck and its already got more surface rust underneath it than the Trans Am does. The paint shines & looks good ten feet away but once your up close it has minor blemishes. Its older paint so its aged and has a few small scratches and dings. The undercarriage of the vehicle has some oil residue this comes from the K&N valve cover breathers that are on the 468 motor valve covers. It was what mechanics recommended to help engine breath. I've invested $ 14,000 into this car over past 4 years and I didn't feel it needed to be painted by me so if you buy this car its awaiting for your finishing touches. The mileage is on the body / frame and wont be accurate for the transmission or motor since they were new within the last 1200 miles. There are a lot more things to list that I've done to the car I kept all receipts. I'd like for someone else to enjoy this awesome Pontiac Trans Am! I've never seen one of these cars in overall great condition and not rusted out like most are.
This car auction is a relisting. I've decided to sell this 1980 Pontiac Trans Am with no reserve.

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod
Fri, 21 Feb 2014There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners
Fri, 28 Oct 2011This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.
