This auction is for a 1998 Trans Am with a 5.7 LS1 engine and 4L60E automatic transmission. The car has been in a very minor front end collision as shown in the pictures. It was paid off by the prior owners insurance company and therefore it has a salvage title. The car is in very nice shape and was obviously very well taken care of. The body is in nice shape, with no rust and the paint shines great. There are a few small scratches and chips here and there as is expected on a car of it's age but I would say it's in above average condition. The interior is all in very good condition as well. The seats are leather, with no rips or tears and are quite comfortable. It has all of the usual power options and a Monsoon stereo system which plays loud and clear. The wheels are chrome plated aluminum and are not peeling or flaking. The LS1 engine runs and sounds great and the car drives in the yard. I have not driven it on the street. The car has headers and a modified exhaust with no cats and an SLP intake, other than that it appears to be all stock. Everything on the car seems to work as it should. The damage on the car is very minimal, I really am at a loss as to why it was totaled. It will need a left headlight assembly, repair or replace the front cover and replace the left fender. The hood needs very minor repair as shown in the pictures. The right fender will need paint as well (clear is peeling where the auction company put tape on it). This about as easy as you can get in a project car and will require a very minimal effort to get back on the road. I have a headlight and a left fender that will be available to the winning bidder for an additional $200 if wanted. This car is being sold as is with no warranty. It is not fit for the road in it's current state due to the headlight and the fact that it is illegal to operate a salvage vehicle prior to repair in CT. It has a salvage title. Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO
Mon, 24 Jun 2013Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.
NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
GM issues four new recalls, 2.4 million cars affected
